It appears the latest popular way to discredit those who publish opposing views on forums is to accuse them of being impostors, not really who they claim to be, the same person posting under several names, as though no two people could possibly share the same opinions. This has happened on a variety of sites on the internet. Moderators find it an easy way of doing away with people they don't like who stay within the rules. Whether it is on a TV forum, or a political forum, the trend seems to be the same. TV Heaven, a while back, accused two or three posters of being the same person because they each didn't like the new series of Dr Who despite the moderators having praised the show. Sterlingtimes has adopted this method also, and begun banning people while claiming they were impostors sent by a rival site to cause disruption. It has become so that, on certain sites, the moderators think that they are rather god like beings who hold the only valid opinions in the universe. In many cases their behaviour is rather petty. These forums and their causes are hardly earth shattering, and it's obvious that those running them think far too highly of themselves. Maybe it is only on the internet that they can come over as being of any importance, when in the real world they are nonentities. But, I suppose, such is cyberspace. Anyone can be who they want to be. Being a site moderator is a bit like being a monarch or president. For some, it is a power trip. Thankfully, however, there are still some forums where the moderators are rational and reasonable in their approach. Long may these decent moderators continue.
Over here.
IBTZ?
Here, the moderators are god like beings.
No one likes earlier or later Dr. Who actors.
That's why I suspect that the motive behind whatever it was that happened had nothing to do with Dr. Who.
Did a posting history. Apparently the hornet is a Brit. That might explain his fixation with Dr. Who, the only "superhero" fit to be on late night PBS.
What does that have to do with us? Everyone knows that OUR admods are entirely fair, balanced and administrate w/o an agenda. Really.
This is a general review/comment of a trend in moderation of some internet forums. Nothing personal and with no agenda. It's no different to commenting on any other subject.
I watched Dr Who from the very beginning, but my favourite Doctor was Jon Pertwee - the third actor to play the part. So, not everyone prefers their first one. I also liked Paul McGann in the 1990's movie.
It might interest you to know that, even today, the biggest Dr Who fanbase is in America.
It's a situation similar to when your best friend becomes Hall Monitor in 3rd grade and writes you up for walkingtoo fast. Some people cannot handle power or authority. Oh well.
The post is not about moderators on this forum. It is a general comment relating to some areas of the internet. Isn't this site for people to post comments and observations about various topics?
You have a good nose.
Oh well, if you don't like it here go to DU. The front door is always "free" and "open"....
I have sen that happen in some places.
No it doesn't.
I only watched one Dr. Who. It was that moron with the afro and scarf (I kept hoping for an Isadora Duncan moment) doing battle with a bunch of 5' salt shakers.
