Star Wars Battlefront II comes out in 2 weeks as well.
I was a beta tester for SWBF2 and didn't like it, once the novelty that it's star wars wears off it doesn't hold a candle to the Battlefield games it's blatently ripped off from.
I think it's awesome that a game was made for The Warriors and it's even better that rockstar did it. I'm waiting to see reviews on it, I hope it lives up to the source material. "CANNNN YOUUUUUU DIG IT?"
No kidding. I liked SWBF because of the novelty - just mindless fun jumping into vehicles and playing different people. To bad the sequel sounds like a dud.
You may like it, you never know. Rent it on a console or wait for a demo on PC to make up your own mind. It was cool when I started the test (I didn't play the first one) because it was like "Hey, I'm a Storm Trooper, cool!" but once that wore off it just felt like a slow, not to mention poorly balaced, battlefield game. I felt the graphics and sounds were subpar for a 2005 release as well but that may just be because it's a console port.
Has anyone else been kicked from BF2 by punk buster for corrupted memory??? Please don't tell me my game has been hacked. Is it me? do I have to re-install?
Are you getting it over and over? If not it could just be an error due to just about anything. I don't play BF2 all that much but I see PB mess up and kick lots of players on AA.
If that doesn't work try reinstalling just punkbuster by using pbweb.exe, you can find it at www.punkbuster.com
If all that fails you'll probably need to reinstall BF2.
Onto another topic, F.E.A.R. is awesome, best shooter I've played in a looooong time. Picked up Quake 4 as well, awesome game but only serious run and gun shooter fans need apply.

It is outstanding, without a doubt. The system requirements are pretty steep but if you can manage them it's worth every penny. There are single and multiplayer demos out there but be advised, the full version runs a lot smoother than the demos.

Man, the more I play this game the more I'm disliking it. Besides the numerous bugs, I've got a new problem. I bought a new sound card because mine crapped out on me. Just a run of the mill SB Live 24 bit, slightly better than what I had. Now the sound stutters constantly.
Looking at the readme file, it appears that their remedy is to nuke the profile directory which means my custom settings have to be redone. Ahhh, what the heck. I've already redone them a dozen times since they sometimes get nuked during a crash to desktop.
Any mention of further patches from DICE? I can't believe how long it took them to release this last patch when some of the new "features" are just as buggy. Since they more or less sold a beta version of the game, they might as well release patches right away instead of pretending they are testing them for quality control. One example, the refresh button on the favorites doesn't appear to do anything; scrolling doesn't seem to work either.
I saw that as well. May open the wallet for that one. My daughter got a PSP and it is coming on that as well. Woo hoo battlefield while sitting on the beach!

Agreed the browser is useless. If you don't know the IP of the server you are done.
yeah... they definitely should have tested it more before they released it. my only gripe is their failure to deal with the unrealistic imbalance which aircraft has over ground.
In one respect, they even made it worse!.. bomb splash is bigger.
Yeah, the bomb blast radius is ridiculous.
I was just in single player testing some things with my sound. I noticed that missile tracks seem to work better. The missile tracking seemed more realistic with better hits. I wonder if in their testing, DICE had people either playing single player or on a fast LAN that made lag effects on missile tracking unnoticeable. I wonder if they didn't take lag into account for missile targeting.
Yeah... one of the "enhancements" was to make the stinger more effective... whooooo pee! (/sarcasm on)
It still takes 2 rounds from a 105 mm tank gun to take out a chopper. That much armor wouldn't be able to get 10 ft off the ground!
