The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Mornin' to ya. :-D

I'm ready to strangle my clients. They decide that today of all days would be the best time to send new hires and changes along with their payrolls. Grrrr....

Has anyone ever had a broken rib? I am trying to figure out if mine is just bruised or if there is more serious damage. It does not really hurt except when I move in certain ways or cough or blow my nose. Since I have a touch of a cold... ow.

Did they send the request along with the new cover sheets? The new cover sheets are required, you know... didn't they get the memo? :-)

*laughing*

Nope. Nor did they follow the proper protocol and send it in 72 hours prior to payroll processing.

They are rebels and they'll never ever be any good.

I've heard that binding your ribs tightly with an Ace bandage will ease the pain and promote healing.

Weeeelll... In karate one of the senpai (upperclassmen) was in charge since sensei was not there. Well this senpai likes vigorous sparing drill (lots of fighting with just barely pulled punches. I nailed a couple guys in the er lower abdomen with some kicks that were sloppy. After that one of the cops in the class, there are several, did the old 'reminder via pain' thing and nailed me just on the high in inside of my left peck. Ow. It has been sore since but I aggravated it on Saturday with leaf raking. There is no bruise type discoloration and never was. The soreness is near the juncture of one of the upper left ribs and the sternum. It almost feels like something shifts there when I cough or sneeze as compared to the opposite side. I think I will do the tight wrap thing. Pressing there seems to help. I doubt I have time for a doctor visit before turkeymoot but I have not checked yet.

What do you guys think of this as a boat gun?

other than adding a Smith Enterprises flash suppressor, you got yourself a winner...

I don't know why you haven't ordered it yet... I'm waitin'... I don't know why I'm waitin'...

My brother has the full size one. He has to send it back to Springfield though since he bugged a scope mount job 4 different ways. They are going to swap his receiver.

I want me the SOCOM but don't have 1.5 Kbucks handy.

Ok.

It's probably either cracked or the rib has dislocated from the cartilage. The ribs are connected together by a band of cartilage called the Costal Chondral joint. It really is a type of joint and just like any other joint can be dislocated.

Binding it will probably make you more comfortable, but it will likely heal without the binding. Also, you need to be sure and expand your lungs so you don't get pneumonia. So breathe deeply and slowly several times a day.

Take it easy, breathe deeply and take the obligatory Advil...800mg loading dose, 400mg every 6 hours after that. Advil, as I've said before, not only eases pain, it promotes healing.

After taking the Advil, wait about 30-45 minutes, then do your deep breathing exercises. That'll make it less painful to do.

Should I avoid any ninja llamas looking for a fight? I have so far because it seemed like the thing to do.

the old 'reminder via pain'

pain is the best teacher...

betcha seperated the cartilage... painful, but you'll live... massive doses of vitamin "M" (Motrin), and vitamin "A" (alcohol) are recommended...

don't think binding will help much...

I wrestled half a season with two fractured ribs, and the coach bound those fer practice...

If at all possible, yes. But sometimes it can't be helped.
