Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Well. As a hugh fan of both the TLC and BBC versions of the show, "What Not To Wear", the stylists always recommend ditching the double-breasted blazers because they are not flattering to the figure.

You're cheerful, LF. It's almost Friday! Not really - it's a maximum false enthusiasm kinda day. :)
To: Lil'freeper
Riiight, oh falsely-enthusiastic 13k words up one. Sheesh, you could stop writing right now and still finish after Thanksgiving weekend.

I was guest speaker tonight at a meeting of Mighigan Military Moms (and dads). Brought a big bunch of stuff and did two hours of show-and-tell. Got more requests from them, maybe some hits (and donations) on the web site. And I laid out our financial status on the table for them. Hey - what a great opportunity! The donation link is working! (it was apparently pnly me having trouble with a bad cookie)

I'm not sure figure flattering is my primary concern. I'm more concerned about fashion appropriate.
If things are ever gonna change fer me, I gotta be aware of that.
I'd just hate to ditch a perfectly good suit if it's acceptable to wear it. That said I ~haven't~ worn it in about five years (didn't fit).

Men's double-breasted suit. Still acceptable or out of style? Oh - I love 'em... I think they look the best, but they're kindof a pain because they don't look good unbuttoned, so you have to leave it buttoned and stand all the time.
Oh - you weren't asking me :~\

So there's
this:
First off: are you a single-breasted man or a double? While both styles can fit most body types, single-breasted jackets tend to flatter the slim while double-breasted jackets make the broad look mighty. This doesnt imply being skinny or fat, its simply about your tits; hence the term breasted. Choose the jacket style that you can best fill out from there youll always look best. David Letterman, who can rarely be found not wearing a double-breasted jacket, skirts this rule by sitting behind a desk. Notice how uncomfortable he is during the monologue, fussing with his buttons while standing full-view before the camera.
Men's Wearhouse is still sellin' 'em as well. Think I'll keep it.

I do think of Letterman when I think of double breasted suits these days.... but he wears his unbuttoned all the time, which most people wouldn't do... and he wears his with tennis shoes. I don't think it's the suit's fault he plays with the buttons. :~D

Well, I figger I just got me another suit back into commission. So, I've basically gone from 1 to 4.
After Christmas I may start messin' with their brains and wear a suit (not just tie) every day.

Men's Warehouse wants to make money just like any other store. Because men's fashions change very little in general, your critera should be the fit and lines of the suit. A fashionable but unflattering suit will detract from the polish and professionalism you wish to convey. So if it fits well, looks snappy, and you like it, keep it. Otherwise treat yourself to some new threads to celebrate those missing 19#s.

Nanowrimo 2006: Summary
Working title: "Ground-Balrog Day"
A colony of trolls inhabits a cave system deep in an ancient forest. The deputy-troll, an annoying little twerp named "Rasputin" experiences deja vu. Each day he awakes to the same day as the day before.
Each afternoon he dies a horrible, painful (excruciatingly) and embarrassing death.
It's a thought...

The other three suits are pretty much your basic/classic style. So I'm "covered" - so to speak. I just didn't want to have this hanging around in my closet if I'm not going to wear it. But I think now I'll give it a try.
I'm holding off on buying new threads until spring. If we do our typical Palm Sunday/Easter concerts I'll need my tux altered or need a new one. I bought it at "top weight." But there's rumor we may go back to the dramatic production.

Hmmm, and will he ever learn his lesson and become a better person, thus breaking the cycle?
I think next year I will write a novel about doing NaNo.
