The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It's the muscle hurting you?

All I can think of is that you slept on it wrong, and pinched a nerve or cut off the circulation. Or you injured it yesterday and it got stove up in the night and now it's hurting. Do you carry anything heavy with that arm? Is there any swelling?

Either way, I'd just pop about 4 regular strength Advils (if you don't have a history of ulcers, kidney or liver problems) and see if that will help. Don't drink any alcohol...Advil stays in your system for at least 8 hours.

If that helps, take 2-3 Advils every 4-6 hours as needed. If it doesn't help, call a doctor. If it doesn't go away in 2-3 days, call a doctor.

Oh, and of course if anything changes...like the circulation in your hand seems compromised or if your arm starts to swell...get thee to a physician ASAP...like the ER.

FOUR ADVILS!?

*grin* I'll go out at lunch and pick some up.

It must have happened in my sleep. I know I tend to sleep on my side with my arm outstretched under the pillow. Maybe my head is heavier than I thought!

It's over now, but I kept wanting to shout: "What am I doing here? I don't have anything to do with any of this!"

But I didn't.

Yes...take four 200mg Advils. We actually give 800mg Ibuprofen tablets in the hospital to orthopedic patients. If it's really hurting you, you can take that much. I usually use that much as a "loading dose" to get the pain knocked down quick, but then maintain with a lower dose.

See, Advil is more than just a pain killer...it's a major anti-inflammatory agent. By inhibiting the inflammation, it diminishes the pain and actually promotes healing. Inflammation tends to snowball...if you can inhibit it, you heal up quicker.

Take the Advil with something on your stomach, though...it's extremely hard on the stomach.

Great! It is so nice to be able to travel hundreds of miles to new places and still be among friends.
