The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yay! I'm not entirely useless! After the way work went today, I wasn't quite sure on that point.

Oh dear. The cat will sulk a while, and will (hopefully) eventually forgive you.

Moonpies... I honestly have not had one of those since I was about 10. Speaking of not having had those in a while... I choked down a twinkie the other day, literally. My mom sent us home with a box of them that she had bought for KarateBoy. What WAS it about those things I actually liked as a kid?? Now, don't get me wrong, I have a seriesly hugh sweet-tooth. Twinkies just are not as yummy as I remembered. ick. *shiver* Now, I think I would be afraid of trying moonpies again cuz it would ruin my yummy memory of them.. oh well. There is always coffee and chocolate.

I have a vivid memory of being in the back seat with the grocery bags ... I was about four or five. I burrowed through the bags, found the marshmellows, full-sized ones, and ate a half-dozen before my mamma looked back and started raising h*ll.

Forty-plus years later, I can't imagine eating even a miniature marshmellow, not willingly. ICKICKICK!

I used to love Twinkies, too, and the chocolate cupcakes. How did we eat that dreck?

I'll be attending the monthly meeting of the Michigan Military Moms organization tomorrow at 7PM. I'm taking a big box of samples for show-and-tell. I hope to convince them that we need money, and not just the names of their sons and daughters.

Speaking of show-and-tell, I've posted some new articles on gadgets and limited-quantity items that the Hobbit Hole has provided. You might want to check out the site to see what I've been doing in your name.

Good morning one and all!

Rain.

At least it isn't freezing..

Sorry to y'all who think snow is pretty or fun or festive, and I'll agree with you for the first coupla weeks as long as it stays off the roads.

For those of you that don't know, I make my living visiting my company's customers. A rainy day is yuck, and a freeze or snow just sucks so much I wish for my old dull-as-dirt boss-over-my-shoulder office job with no Glenn, Rush and Sean.

NaNo writers; do your works get published on-line or ? All of them I've been hearing about sound intriguing...

< maximum false enthusiasm > Goood morning! < /mfm >

EGE, my nano stuff is not going to be published in any way shape or form until it gets at least one series revision. I intended to put it up chapter by chapter, but ... I decided there's enough crap on the internet. :P

I order stuff from the King Arthur Flour website a lot, and one of the things they have is a pan designed to bake your own 'Twinkies', and you can fill them yourself. That way, you can make them more, ahem, natural and not feel TOO guilty eating them. ;o)

Best of luck with that, winmag! Here's hoping they spread the word on to folks they know!

Yay, it's... er... what is it? Wednesday! Yay! Ok, enough fake enthusiasm. It's cold. And I'm sleepy. But I'm going to hit the gym first thing. Brrr.

Mornin'.

Don't know what I did to my arm last night but I woke up at 6am with a horrible pain from the front of my shoulder to the inside of my elbow.

I can barely lift my arm without some degree of discomfort. It hurt so bad that when I tried to brush Alyson's hair this morning, I actually dropped the brush from the shakes.

The only thing I can think of is that I slept on it wrong somehow.

As long as I keep my arm tucked at my side and just move my hands, it's OK. I look silly, but silly is better than OUCH! :-/

2J - have you any idea what it could be?

You know, that was my first thought.

Is God punishing me for being so impatient with my mom?

It's the same arm and everything.

*cue Twilight Zone music

Or maybe my mom came into my room in the middle of the night and hit my arm with a bat. ;-)

I'd have to hit him with my left.

I can't hit him with my right since my elbow's tucked into my side. Unless I just get ~real~ close to him, stick out my hand and spin around.

I have had mornings where I slept on my arm funny and it was numb or useless, but you should have been able to shake that off, and the pain should have gone away as blood came back to it.... maybe you've got something pinched.

You know I'm just funnin' ya. And, trust me, I understand the impatience with the mom syndrome.

And that's all I've got to say about that. < /forrest gump >
