The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I missed you Ruthy! How ya doin' sis?

Well, my medical reserve training session ended early so I was able to make it to my "Mom's Night Out" with the other BA CHEF ladies. We had 12 show up...a good number!

One of the ladies asked me to play my pennywhistle and I did! Right in the coffee shop! Didn't miss a note!

I guess I'm gonna try to make it to that coffee house place a few times a week. It's on the not-college end of town and was really quiet. I was pretty much the only one there.

Had really good bruschetta and some coffee.

And wrote quite a bit. It's a lot easier when I don't have Tam talking to me, my computer available, and a zillion other distractions.

But I still rather wish I could write at work. This is the first year that's not been an option, and it's really hard. I used to get in my first thousand or fifteen hundred during the day and then only had to do a little at night.

I did. I really did have fun. As devastating as this year started out with our group, it's turned out to be the best year I've ever had with them.

Oh, I don't ever buy a turkey so large that I get sick of the leftovers. ;o)

Mmm! Bruschetta!

I had an oatmeal cookie and a cup of plain decaf.

I keep meaning to write a lot after dinner, but I just get pooped and end up not getting much done at all.

Wants hot chocolate and Carolan's.....

It was a LOT of food, too - I still have half to have for dinner tomorrow.

Cookie sounds good, too, though. I'm making peanut butter cookies right now. They have a free Thanksgiving dinner at work tomorrow, but we're supposed to bring a dessert to share. I figure there will likely be plenty of folks bringing pies and cakes and all. Cookies should work well.

Yeah...usually by the end of the day, I don't feel motivated to do anything. I'm all revved up at work, and eager to get home to write...but that kinda disappears by five o'clock.

I *love* peanut butter cookies with a fresh cup of black hot coffee! Usually I like a little Splenda in my coffee, but with something like peanut butter cookies, it's just best black to me!

Steve had his Thanksgiving deal a couple days ago, but Josh wasn't feeling well and we skipped it for the first time in years.

I'm not sure whether there will be families there for this meal or not. I dunno much about it, except that it's free!

That's a fine quality, in my view...

Nah, the dogs don't run wild in our neighborhood, except for Lily, the 4 month old Golden Retriever puppy across the street. Every now and then, when Tim and Trish bring her out, she gets loose and runs over for a visit, She is such a little cutie, but doesn't obey worth a darn!

One thing I don't like Splenda in is coffee!

It's okay in hot chocolate when there isn't any Irish Cream around.

Ahem.. Dr Pepper is ~not~ a cola.

I knowed that. But it is also not the beverage of choice with a moonpie.

My cat hates me again.

Remember the cough-that-wouldn't-die that I had this time last year? I kept pushing the cat off the bed and finally she got the message. Hadn't been back since.

But I guess she got cold when the furnace was off the other night. Wife went to bed first. Cat went too. I came in and couldn't see cause the night light in the bathroom had burned out.

I sat on the cat. I don't think she'll be back anytime soon.

So, there's that.
