The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah, it's above ground. He told me yesterday he could get to it today or tomorrow. He appreciates the "old lady in the house" urgency.

We talked through the heat pump as well and decided it wouldn't be warm enough for Nana.

Heat pumps didn't seem like a good idea here either... it seems they're really designed for places where you're only trying to change the temp from outside to inside by about 20 degrees.

Yeah, we'd talked that through before when we replaced the air conditioner. That was about seven years ago. We opted not to go with a heat pump then because we anticipated Nana ~and~ Papa moving in.

Good grief. It's awful to say this, but as much as I miss him, I'd be in the looney bin if that had happened.

New monster pictures... I took this one of Tweek yesterday. I finally found a camera setting that would keep her eyes from appearing demonic red. Her eyes aren't ~that~ much different in color than Pippin's, but Pippin is sure easier to photograph. Tweek is a really beautiful kitten, and she's coming out and letting us be near a bit more than she was.

Red thing on a string is a big hit...

Of course... "flying leaps onto your sister" is also a favorite game :~D

A distinction without a difference, really :~D

Is Tweek reading all of those books?

She's such a good conservative!

I'm not sure anyone's actually read those books. We just set them out on the end table for appearances... ;~D

My dream is to one day have a comfy chair in the house that's all mine so I can stack my books up beside me and read anytime I want.

Well that shouldn't be ~too~ hard to arrange, I wouldn't think! Our table with the books is next to the chair we admit is really Gidget's chair.

The kittens like to sit there... I think they like the warmth from the light.

In hypothetical land, frying chairs are right out until all small people are old enough to know better.

Hey girl! How's about a cuppa joe? It's about that time of day, and it is dreary, cold, and rainy here.

Clare just got in from her driving lesson. She has three more lesson, then SKIDZ school. She'll take the Road Test for her Driver's license on Dec. 10.

That's great, 2J. It's terrific that you are at the point in your life where you could truly help in the event of an emergency. Now, if you're trained through the OK folks, would the Baptist organization, whose training you attended a couple of months ago, accept that training for THEIR medical volunteer group requirements?

The training topic will be “OKC Bombing/May 3rd Tornado:  Lessons Learned”. (Concerning the May 3rd, 1999 tornados that hit OKC...Steve went with the disaster team from our church to help in the clean-up and couldn't even speak about it, it was so awful.)

Our BA CHEF Mom's Night Out is also tonight...I'll miss the first half of it. I don't want to miss it completely though because we have a great time!

Did you know that BA CHEF now has 42 members? We grow by a couple or so new members each month (and I mean new, not discontents from the "other" group.)

Last year, when BA CHEF had 150 members, the Mom's Night Out usually consisted of a half-dozen ladies. Last month, our MNO had EIGHTEEN ladies show up!

HA!

BTW, MNO is where we all go out to eat at a different place each month. Just for fun, no business is done. It's just a blast. We all feel as if we kinda came through the fire and we're closer friends because of it.
