Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Evening OT - It's certainly acceptable for a lady to go shooting on Sunday afternoon, as long as she isn't wearing white shoes after Labor day and before Memorial day. (and doesn't buy her ammuntion in a Pawn Shop before heading to the range)

Heh. One should wear the proper color shoes at all times, especially on a Sunday.
Wouldn't dream of buying ammo from a pawnshop. Any ammo from a pawnshop is likely to be treacherous.

Excellent idea re: the ammo. We'll all have to get together soon and burn powder. Next lesson is weaponry cleaning. :-)

No problem! Cleaning weaponry can't be as bad as cleaning a graphite furnace. a little chemist joke, there.

We went to see
Zathura tonight. It's like
Jumanji in space. The first 30 minutes were very uncomfortable to watch, because the two brothers in the movie were so HORRID to each other! After the movie, Clare asked if Paul and David were ever like that and SirKit said absolutely NOT, because we never allowed it. There was no name calling in our house, and the kids were not allowed to get into fights. I made sure they had the chance to air their differences, but didn't let it get ugly. They all get along very well, so it must have worked!
After that first part, the movie got pretty exciting, but I don't think it would be good for kids younger than 8 or so. I think it would freak them out!

Hey there... Yes, they still do the earphone guided tour thing. I didn't get one, but some of the others did. It fills in lots of blanks in what you're looking at.
I took lots of pictures out there.
We really lucked out and got a beautiful day to take the boat and go out there. Warm, little breeze, no fog... clear in every direction. Not all days are like that out there... and we really got lucky.
Sent you a couple pics. Got lots more.

There have been a couple of odd events here at the hotel today.
One was perhaps the biggest and most pretentious wedding I've seen since the wedding of Charles and Diana. They had a stretch Escalade limo that was the longest limo I've ever seen. This thing had to be sixty feet long. It couldn't even turn into the entry for the Hotel without doing the "back and fill" motion like a tugboat.
The other odd thing tonight was a big Lebanese group, the LAA: http://www.laa.org/ or the Lebanese-American Association. I was really curious to find out if any of them had anything to say about the recent nastiness in Jordan. They were having a big casino-night thing. Was crazy. I guess my curiousity will have to wait.

We went to see Zathura tonight. It's like Jumanji in space. Saw the book on B&N yesterday. Starts with them looking at a Jumanji game, and then the Zathura game falls out of a secret compartment.
Yeah, right.
But I'll probably see it anyway.

I'm flying out tommorrow afternoon.
Most everybody left on flights tonight but I've got a couple of people flying out tomorrow morning, and I'm just sticking behind to make sure nobody needs any last minute help.
First boot to hit the ground, last boot to leave the ground... it's that sort of thing. :-)

But... the capper on weirdness was that tonight was also some kind of event for a local singles online dating service thing: http://www.onekeyaway.com/pages/events.php
I'll freely admit that I have been a magnet for crazy women at various points in my history... but dang... this was crazy people central.
Its a truly silicon-valley adaptation on the singles scene-- apparently they all get these little electonic "keys" with buttons and lights on them. The idea is that if you push your button on your key, somebody nearby that is "compatible" will have their little 'key' thing light up in some sort of way.
Of course I'm not part of this, and didn't have one of these 'key' buzzer light button things... but still I got accosted at the bar by this crazy woman that would just NOT STOP TALKING about how liberal she was and how many AWARDS she had won for fighting for the existing helmet laws for bicyclists in the area... and so on and so on...
I really just tried to be polite. Not the time to pick a fight, I figured...

So... I bugged out.
Tonight I'm watching the Sin City DVD (Bruce Willis, Rutger Hauer... etc. of the Frank Miller stories.)
Looks appropriately wierd. Will advise.

Yeah, it's pretty weird. And funny. And violent. And kinda sick and perverted, too.
We enjoyed it! :)

Well, thing to remember is, the movie features the stories from three different graphic novels and a graphic short story, which are only loosely connected. I think they did a good job of weaving the stories together, though.
Anyway, good night!
