The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

If I wait long enough maybe all of mine will blow into the neighbors' yards.

Wind blows right across our front yard and downhill to all the neighbors below us on the street. Almost NEVER have to rake there. We have Joseph mow the whole yard with the grass catcher; instant compost!

Heh. I'll still have plenty for the compost pile.

I've got a mulching mower that came with a catcher bag. The bag isn't very big and I think I'd have to stop every ten steps or so to empty the stoopid thing. Anyway, the mower won't start unless the bag is attached properly and I've never been able to put it on right. (runs okay without the bag)

Okay. the Toaster just kilt Hair. Ecurbh, don't go to the pet store in town while Hair is shopping for cheap DVD players in a pawnshop!

Heh. I need to start doing the shootin' stuff again. Maybe this winter? For November it seems like I'm catching up on my crap writing or yard werk. This Sunday is the last race of the season. Is it proper for ladies to shoot on Sunday?

Well, We used to go shootin every Sunday 'tween noon and sundown. Afore noon it was not allowed, ya know church and all. After sunset, was when we got to "pick 'n grin" with a camp fire and food.

I wouldn't be going on Sunday morning...that's just a little too improper! Besides, the range doesn't open until noon on Sundays.

I'm within 1000 of my goal for today. Think I'll take a break although it's too windy to rake leaves. :)

Think I'll put those empty peanut hulls out for the squirrels....hehehehe...

Hmmmm....I don't like this weather. Reminds me of that day in November before the tornado trashed North Raleigh.

Hey howdy there folkses... just got back from Alcatraz... My meeting and entertaining duties are ended! Woohoo!

Alcatraz was pretty cool... much more interesting than I expected, actually. It was a ~civil war era~ fort and gun battery first! I didn't know that.
