The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Stay away from the Baltimordor tunnels.

No problem, they're south and I live north. But what I do worry about is how all those folks are being diverted... mainly onto the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Stupid if you ask me because now the bridge is a far better target than the tunnels.

Pawn shop? I could get an MP3 player there? Ohh... hmmm...

I want an iPod but I can't afford the iPriceTag. Heck I just want an MP3 player but I will admit apple has a nice design. If only it weren't so culty on college campuses. I don't really like the iPerson stereotype that's around.

Corin, if you happen to find a different brand that is as nice, or get a good deal somewhere, let me know.

Okay, it's Christmas shopping time. Jr. wants an iPod. And, of course, Corin is ignorant.

I don't know a thing about them.... Can't advise. I'd just get him a pony.

I can't get him to shovel the dog poop out of the yard.

There will be no pony.

Clare is looking for a really good MP3 player herself. She doesn't care about the "coolness" factor of the I Pod, she wants something cheaper.

I'm really aggravated becase we just spent $1600+ fixing the fence. It hasn't even been painted yet. If Wilma comes to Miami, I'll have to stay just so I can tie myself to the fence and keep it from falling. ;-)

Hey - I don't blame you.... and yet, the imagery is pretty dang funny. "BEGONE FOUL STORM OF HELL! YOU SHALL NOT HAVE THIS FENCE!"

iShrubbery?

Speaking of shrubbery, I'm looking for a shrubber to put in front of the house where the driveway meets the sidewalk....an evergreen shrub, 3 to 4 feet high (at full growth), something nice, but not too expensive. Any suggestions? Should I ask Roger, the Shrubber?

I just kilt a boxwood last week that you could have had. I'm widening the driveway so we can get three vehicles in and out.

Prolly would've been too much to ship it to you.

Heh...Nayber (not the drainage problem ones) came over and said Mrs. Nayber would have loved to have it.

'course it was in pieces at the time.

I'm thinking along the lines of yew...or maybe juniper. I want a spreading habbit and to use the trimmings for Christmas wreaths and stuff.

Let me check my "Garden Gate" magazines and I'll get back with some suggestions later this aftermoon. BTW, do you want any siberian iris? I've been splitting and replanting and have a lot left over.

Sure! Your irises are one of the things I didn't manage to kill. :)

They seem to like it around TheSunRoom.

Coolness matters not. Usability matters. Space matters, interface matters, and I will say the iPod has the most intuitive interface I've seen.

The other benefit of the pod is the same one that exists for Windows. Being the biggest one out there means there is a ton of accessories, third party utilities, and help out there. The integration between the pod and itunes is a powerful and easy to use combo that pretty much blows away the competition.

With plenty of referbs and sales out there it is not neccisary to pay full price for the pod. The one I just got recently was 40gig for 225 bucks.

Heh, I am looking at the $50 price range. I don't really need one... it would just be nice...

And I would definitely look to buy refurbed or used. Well I'll keep my eyes open.

How was Day One at work?

Sorry I'm not there, I'm doing homework with someone. Should be home by seven? If you make an artichoke, please steam one for me too.
