The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

This hotel is kinda funny... the Sofitel is a french-owned chain, sorta like "holiday inn" over in France. Not a very high end hotel at all, just good and middle of the road. But over here in the U.S. they are all trying to be 4 or 5-star hotels.

A frenchperson I was talking to, that was staying here, said it was really pretty funny... sorta like going to some other country and seeing a "Best Western" with Bellhops, door men, and a concierge desk. It just doesn't fit.

:-)

Leave it to the French to pull one like that.

They are masters of advertising.

They have folks eating snails just by calling them "escargot", fercryingoutloud.

I however, do admit to a particular fondness for the dish.

Snails suck. Well... of course they do. It's the only way they can hold on to anything.

Yah... but after a decent onion soup, what have the french accomplished lately?

You could say the same thing about barbeque sauce...

*laughing*

Ya got me there!

I've gotta to call it a night early though.

A very big day facing me tomorrow.

May have to process 50 payrolls somehow. And pray that they fixed the air conditioning. It was miserable in there today.

Nighty night!

Are there any Sam's Clubs, Costco, or BJ's Wholesale Clubs near you, and do you know anyone who is a member? I got a 1-1/2 lb. bag at BJ's last week for $9. I go through a couple of bags at Christmastime.

Oh, they must have really enjoyed it! Our kids really liked the Rankin Bass "Hobbit" when they were younger. They actually STILL like it!

Huh, that would be an idea.... I know there's a Sam's Club but I don't know any members. Least I don't think so.
