Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Milk Duds are evil. Not as evil as the Heath bars, but since they're already gone...

I hear those are dangerously explosive when loaded improperly.

Oh, Hair, I don't know
how I did. You think Rosie frets ... I make her look like Cagney in
White Heat!
This is a really, really nifty job. Starting with, it's a job. Second, it pays nice money. Third, the benefits rock, as it's with a state agency that supports school districts. Fourth, and really importantly, it's a cool position, creating custom-made reports for various school districts in the area.
I hate to impose on y'all yet again, but does this thank-you letter "pop" for you?
Thank you for the opportunity to interview for the Information Systems Report Writer position on Wednesday afternoon. I appreciate your taking the time to give me a comprehensive overview of the job and its requirements.
The interview reinforced my already strong interest in the position. I was especially intrigued by the immediate challenge presented by the backlog of reports you described; I like the idea of hitting the ground running! I think the position's dual requirements --- programming and customer support --- dovetail quite well with my background and experience. Your plans for the future, especially the database conversion, would provide a lot of room to grow, and I find that pretty exciting!
In addition to my enthusiasm, I bring to the position experience with ad hoc programming situations. For five years, I supplied computer support to a group of psychologists, physiologists, and human factors specialists performing scientific investigations; quite often, the computer support requirements were vague and communicated to me at the last minute. Such situations often require long hours and overtime, which I can handle.
I am very interested in working for you and look forward to hearing from you about this position. Take care!

Good enthusiasm really shows through. Might want to re-formalize some bits. But I read it and would enjoy reading that letter from a candidate. It would make a difference to me, I think.

using the word overtime makes it sound like money. Maybe try this: "I am not afraid of long days when critical work needs to be done."
...just thinkin' out loud... :-)

Heh. I played on of the Three Kings during our Christmas Eve Mass Pageant. I was the "King from the Southern Lands". I had a pretty convincing costume though. A lovely purple robe, and a nice cream colored kaffiyeh with a purple and gold braided gutra to hold it on my head.
