Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm late for the party: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
To: HairOfTheDog
Hi Hair, When I noticed it was Rosie's birthday I couldn't resist a reminder of the infamous spam attack from so long ago.... Hope all is well with you!
I'm excited about the new Narnia movies coming out... Maybe there will be a new thread like the HH for Narnia geeks: Cair Paravel: How Far from the Lamp Post?, Archenland Memories, etc.
We could engage in extensive discussions of snow-pants styles in Narnia...as compared and contrasted with Middle Earth... ;^)

She just got a package. It says "FRAGILE" - must be Italian. Should I open it for her just in case it's explosive?

Well, maybe there will be.
I'm among the few around here that have never read the Narnia books, though I can see the movies look as epic as LoTR was, and there seems to be the potential for a lot of similar discussions about themes and politics, as well as probably, the expected changes to the story when brought to film.
I don't know if it will gather the same kind of momentum or not. Are there sites out there sneaking spoilers and images and such? The fervor over LoTR was so new to me, I don't know if that happens often! :~D

LOL - fra-Geee-lay just gave me a belly laugh. I needed that.
I got a shipment of nuts in the mail today and a kit of sausage spices. Mmmmm.... sausage.
To: Lil'freeper
Yummy!
Nuts... I need to start watching for pecan sales. They're so expensive and I tend to use quite a few at Thanksgiving/Christmas time.

Evening!
It's amazing how much work you can get done around the house when you're avoiding plotting. :)

The guys at work say I should try to screw the cladding back on the winderframe. Guess I need to get a variable speed drill.
To: rightwingreligiousfanatic
Good to see you back in the Hole!

I found some plot holes today. No clue how to fix them, I'm just happy to know they're there.

Mmmmm.... pecans. I stop by this store whenever I'm in the Las Cruces area:
Stahmann's. They have *samples*... yumm!

What a wonderful surprise to see you, Vim!
I know we'll be discussing the Narnia movies in here since most of us (I believe) are familiar with them.
But I'm still hanging on to hope that PJ will start filming The Hobbit next year!
Don't be a stranger! Even the occasional "hello!" lets us know you're OK. :-D
Right wing super SPAM attack, indeed. I'm sure Bear will be able to locate it. *grin*
