Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

It's probably unfair to give people names with lots of parts. The lead character could be Qon Li Zu Kon Mi Zau. And all the other characters are brothers.
"I wonder what, what could Mi Tu Lon Kon Mi Zau could be thinking" said Qon Li Zu Kon Mi Zau, but he was interrupted by Shu Vo Mi Kon Mi Zau. "Come quick! Mu Shi Lo Sho Von Zau has killed the brothers Zu Xia Pon Phu Ti Ak Fa and Ib Tha Thu Za Ni Bet!"
Bam! Gotta be fifty words... one sentence. :-)

Heh, that's about my favorite silly song.

I kept back one surprise which appears in the third chapter, but now I'm at the point where I sit back and wonder "where does it go from here?".
Then again, I was wondering the same thing last night and I managed to to plow through it.

LOL! Or could do like Tolkien does and give people and places about seven names apiece, and every time you mention 'em, you could say stuff like "Enthelen Wremookoden, son of Marwen Althoniel and Senbub Marshall, who was also known as the Beeble of the Northern Wastes.."

A lot of times snags that I'm anticipating unravel when I actually get to 'em.
On the other hand, sometimes characters change a lot from how I imagined 'em, and all of a sudden I can't put certain ones together, or a character goes from a kid to an adult or vice versa.
It's interesting how much of a life of their own they can sometimes take on.

OK. I updated my excerpt.
It needed Guido, a pawnshop and a toaster and this was the only place I could put it. :-D
