Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Right nice weather, sounds like you've been having more than your share of 'weather'.
I've only worn out a couple of electric tools, some should be retired, but they still work. I have my dad's old Monkey Wards drill, which has to be 45 years old. You have to give the chuck a spin to get it started these days, but it still works great after the 'jump' start.

Capacitor went bad, I guess.
Yeah, we had some weather. This stuff is giving me (more) gray hairs. Dr. Gray says we only have another 15 years or so of frequent hurricane strikes.

Capitator? Well, guess replacement parts would be reallly long shot. I'll try to get the drill batteries fixed up this week.
15 years cycle? Have you pinged Ruthy to that or perhaps 'we'll never mention it again'. :-)

No, but as a south Floridian, I imagine she is aware of the prediction.
Man, am I tired. Happy that we can sleep in tomorrow. And a good thing we didn't fall back last Monday morning instead of tomorrow, I wouldn't have wanted an extra hour of hurricane force winds!
;-)
Good night, All.

he'd take a chicken if he gets the chance...
they're way kewl...
I was on patrol on the post here, saw one landing in a dead tree... he was folding his wings when the branch he was on broke... the gyrations he went thru to keep from hitting the ground were hilarious... when he finally settled on a nearby branch, he was lookin' around like, "nobody saw that, did they?"...

I'm here... wait, it's hours later. Party went long. I was the first to leave and that's only cuz my passenger wanted to go home. We ate. And made snarky remarks about our professors. It was nice. Seven other grad students in our department, ate tacos and such.
But I guessed I missed out on the evening here.

Wrapped in a blanket of cool breeze on the edge of winter
Dry leaves rustling, the sound of summers end
the light of a million stars
drifting across barren treetops
Drinking the chill draft
Savoring the cold fingers that pass thru nostrils
Extinguishing the days woes

Good morning! Been awfully busy here. Started getting the garden ready for winter yesterday. Does anyone have a recipe that uses a metric ton of green tomatos? Heh. Also getting ready for the little extortionists visiting tomorrow nite - gotta pull some weeds, sweep the walks, deadhead the mums, etc. It's not the kids I detest so much on Halloween, it's their smarmy suburbanite parental units who chaperone them. It's like a house-by-house inspection to see if 1) my ability to keep house is up to their standard and 2) if their interior decorating is better than mine. Urgh! At least I have some furniture and paint to look at this year.
Anyway, Big'ol took me on a dinner/movie date last nite. We saw the new "Zorro" movie. It was absolutely delightful! Ab-so-loooooot-ly delightful!! I cant think of the last time any two actors had such incredible chemistry on screen as Banderas and Zeta-Jones. Wow! And the little boy who played their son has redefined adorable. Such a fun movie! Loved it!

Morning!
It's a little breezy here with drizzle off and on. Trying to decide whether to make buttermilk biscuits or not.

Morning OT - buttermilk biscuts are always appropriate. Going to try to beat the rain and take Gypsygirl for her walk.

I'm reading Eragon also and am suprised by how much I like it. My son read it first and left it lying around long enough for me to find an interest in it. It's kind of fun when we both can discuss the story.
