As to the speaking up with a good reason, well... isn't that why there's a best man? To kick out anyone who tries things like that?

I was a best man once... long story. My understanding was that my role was to get the *groom* out of the room and to the airport as fast as possible... should he have a need for it, right up to the last minute. Sorta like a secret service detail. :-)
