Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Joshua's birthday is tomorrow...he's gonna be seven! Just now I took down a yellow cake mix I had in the cupboard and showed it to him. Said "Look at this Joshua! It's for your birthday cake!" Then I pointed to the words on the front and said "This isn't just some plain cake mix...it's a Super Moist cake mix, which means it's especially good!"
He looked up at me with absolute shock on his face and then threw his arms around me and said "That's the best birthday present I ever got!"

I bet if you had something like a baby monitor out there you could have heard it. Ever thought about having something like that out there? Just something to listen in during the night?
I intend to have something like that set up when I get my little bit of land and have a proper chicken yard.

This sucker drowned in Bay's water bucket in the barn last night. It didn't use the squirrels' climbing rope?

I have thought about it. We hear major ruckuses, Horses can make big noises when they rock and roll out there, but it is easy to sleep through minor ones.

I didn't have an escape rope in it. The escape ropes are on the big water buckets outside. Not the little ones inside. We've had a number of mice drown in their stall buckets, and I don't like it. Not that the mice die, that's OK, but that it means the horses won't/can't/shouldn't have access to their water.
So I think I'll put escape ropes on the inside buckets as well.
I've just never spotted a rat, or a MOUS out there before.

That's a rat. It has a naked tail.

Yeah. :-)
When the boys turned six, we made a big deal out of the fact that since they were six, they were old enough to drink from a real glass at the table, not a plastic cup. I'd take down a glass (a juice glass, but still) and make a big production of pouring their drink and giving them the responsibility of drinking from something breakable.
Both of the acted like it was the biggest honor ever conferred upon them! LOL!!

You know, AFAIK, the funeral is only the first chapter in my novel (unless I decide to take it up to when ~she~ dies). But I'm wondering if this could have been a good resource.

Still, it's not about southern women. It's mostly about the husband/lawyer/politician. But I'm sure she'd want to give him a nice funeral...until she finds out...
I'm still trying to figure out how he dies. I was considering a tragic helium balloon related accident at the national convention...but that might be pushing it a bit.
