Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Morning G'nad - any one inch group is right tolerable shootin'. Was the testing with the Speer or the Sierra?
Sounds like you and the others had an enjoyable evening, crisp, moonlit, with a favorite shootin iron in hand.

Heh - having the opportunity to sleep late is the only reason you need. 'specially since you get up early the rest of the week. (at least that's how I rationalize things myself.) :)
Got some series plotting done on my nano story yesterday. I'm working through the middle section trying to tighten up events a bit. And I set up my webpage blanks that'll hold it once I submit it. Yaaaay.
Sounds like I'm going to be taking the MIL shopping later today. She's been dropping hints about a big sale at Penney's, but because she's new to the area she doesn't want to drive - make that *we* don't want her to drive. Big'ol will host FIL and watch ball, so it's shaping up to be a win-win-win-win kinda day.

Cat 1 force? *smiles hopefully*

I think you are correct on that cat 1 for us ;-)
Hoping for the best, though, time will tell. Heading to Publix for a few last minute things!

A Cat 1 is no problem.
Katrina already took care of most stuff a Cat 1 hurricane would damage. I just hope my new fence holds up.

I just hope my new fence holds up. Me, too! Stay safe!
To: Lil'freeper
I'm sure it will be fine.
At this point, optimism is the only defense. :-D

I'm more familiar with the Overland Park area....around I435 that'll get you to I-70 fairly easily. :)
Well...we got lots of chain restaurants around. Usually when I go out to eat with others it's the barbecue place, or this Italian buffet place (food is good...all you can eat.) Also like Jakes steak.

Got a lot of trees in your yard?
'Morning!
I'm keeping the lazy trend started yesterday....got up late...watching a movie that'll be over in time for me to get my morning walk in before the race starts.

A few, but the two biggest are palms, so I think they'll be OK.
Truth be told, I keep hoping one of these storms will take out the palms because they are so big and drop fronds everywhere.
The one tree I didn't want to lose was the avocado, and that one was killed by Katrina. :-(
The mango is too small to be affected by the winds.

I just worry about trees falling on houses and cars. :)
BTW...you can root avocado pits, right? How long does it take?

Some pits won't take, but my mom has one planted now.
We'll see if it sprouts.
OK, now I'm nervous again because they just said that we can expect F2 tornadoes in Miami-Dade & Broward counties.

Got a pit sitting with the bottom end in water....no roots yet. Basil is rooting, though.
Dunno what to say about the tornadoes and hurricane. Just hang in there!

Me too, Sam.
I'm going to attempt Walgreens in a few minutes here.
Started the laundry and the coffee. I'm going to brew up a few cafeteras worth of cuban coffee, just in case we lose power.
Must...have...coffee....

I hope the avocado pit takes root!
I'm charging up my video camera, so I can do some before and after shots. And if I'm feeling especially brave, some ~during~.
