Welcome!!!

"We're so glad to see so many of you lovely people here tonight...

...We would especially like to welcome all the representatives of Illinois' law enforcement community who have chosen to join us here at the Place Hotel Ballroom at this time. We certainly hope you all enjoy the show and remember people that no matter who you are and what you do to live, thrive and survive, there's still some things that make us all the same...

...You, me, them, everybody..."

"…You know people, when you do find that special somebody, you gotta hold that man, hold that woman, love him, please him, squeeze her, please her, signify your feelings with every gentle caress…because it’s so important to have that special somebody to hold, to kiss, to miss, to squeeze, and please…"

In my teenage years I used to need a ton of sleep. Now I can stay up without effort.

Actually it is because I cannot sleep.

I don't know why, but I'm just horribly repelled by artificial sweeteners of any kind. Nutrasweet, Splenda...they just don't do it for me.

I thought they removed Neutrasweet from Diet Coke. I may be wrong.

I think we're about the same age. I remember routinely staying up until two or so and still having no trouble getting up for work.

Those days appear to be over. *sigh*

It's odd to me, 'cause I don't feel any older!

Might change for me when I reach 28/29 but who knows.

I have to get my 8 hours of sleep a night if I want to be worth anything the next day. I don't always do that, mind you, but I need to.

I feel horrible if I go over 8 hours of sleep, also.

Have you ever heard of the plant, Stevia? It's supposed to be incredibly sweet, found this on google:

If you've ever tasted stevia, you know it's extremely sweet. In fact, this remarkable noncaloric herb, native to Paraguay, has been used as a sweetener and flavor enhancer for centuries.

But this innocuous-looking plant has also been a focal point of intrigue in the United States in recent years because of actions by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The subject of searches and seizures, trade complaints and embargoes on importation, stevia has been handled at times by the FDA as if it were an illegal drug.

Since the passage of the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), stevia can be sold legally in the United States, but only as a "dietary supplement."

Even so, it can be found in many forms in most health-food stores, and is also incorporated into drinks, teas and other items (all labeled as "dietary supplements"). It cannot, however, be called a "sweetener" or even referred to as "sweet."

To do so would render the product "adulterated," according to the FDA, and make it again subject to seizure.

I get headaches if I sleep in.

Also the cats get ticked off, and that's not good for my health either.

Actually, ONE of the cats gets ticked off. The other prefers to sleep in until ten or so and then spend half the night making like a herd of elephants. Amazing how much noise he can make...brat.

I never heard of Stevia. Strange how the Government treats it as you just said.

One of my cats likes to ster up a ruckus too. Running around, knocking things down. Does that all day then falls asleep like a rock for a few hours, then does it again and again.

I keep forgetting to stop by the health food store and purchase some. I'd like to try it in hot tea.

That's one thing that I love about my cats. They immediately jump in bed for the night when I lie down, and stay with me.

Very rarely have I had to jump out of bed for correction -- that usually only happens when I have something really important going on very early in the morning.

I'd be interested in hearing what you think of it. I've heard of it, but I've heard mixed reviews on the taste. Some folks say it's JUST sweet, and intensely so, but some people say it's not that sweet and tastes bitter. Apparently it's one of those things that varies a lot depending on your own tastebuds. Fascinating!

Usually they go to bed before I do...but some nights Tam is a beast.

He's better if he gets some playtime in during the day, but I don't always get around to that, and Halvah doesn't always want to play with him. The WORST was when my sister rode with me as we were coming from Vermont to Colorado. The cats were both troopers on the trip itself, but we just about strangled Tam the first night - after a full day of just layin' around, he was ready to play and play and PLAY! All night! We weren't. ;-)

For the rest of the trip, we made sure we played fetch with him for a good long while before bed.

Considering he's seven now...I'm hoping he's approaching an age when he'll finally calm down just a bit.

Strange how the Government treats it as you just said.

Wonder if it's because the sugar industry lobbyist influences legislators to keep the plant from being labeled, "sweet."
