Apprentice Discussion Thread
Vanity

Posted on 10/13/2005 6:42:59 PM PDT by Huntress

Episode 4 of Season 4 of The Apprentice is on tonight. I'm a little late in starting a discussion thread, but I'm enjoying this set of contestants more than those from the Season 2 and 3, so here goes.

TOPICS: TV/Movies
KEYWORDS: apprentice; donaldtrump; theapprentice; trump

I was sad to see Mark go too, I thought he had potential. But Trump was right to fire him too. It was a sales challenge and even though he did what he was told, he did not argue that he should be out there selling.
Alla's team was smart and set up a kiddie area where they could play by themselves and they could all be out there selling. I also think the choice of what to sell was interesting. Alla's team chose golf, pricier stuff but look more people bought. I think people who are into golf and buy their own stuff have to have bucks while baseball and attracting familes with young kids maybe they just came for the batting cage and the hot dogs. I thought Alla did a great job and handled the difficult people on her team.

The excellent Randal and Marshawn are there to make up for Omarosa!

Ping to tonight's episode.

Randal continues to impress, though I also like Alla and Marshawn.

Another great cab ride. Markus talking too much and making no sense. I'm amazed he lasted so long.

This was disappointing. I turned in to watch "The Apprentice" and got "The Ricki Lake Show". This was the week to have a mass firing, not last week.

I think the producers overplayed their hand. Excel...great, great..wonderful. Randal fantastic. Cap Edge...bad, awful, horrible. Clay's a bigot. Markus a bore. Adam's a (gasp) virgin. Who should go??

Did anyone realize that there was just .09 difference between the two teams? Cap Edge was 6.98 and Excel was 7.07. That's statistically insignificant but to hear the way this was presented you'd have thought Cap Edge spent their whole time in a batting cage.

In fairness to Clay, I Tivo'd the show and his words were "tight Jew", not "tight-ass Jew". I think he meant conservative, not a tightwad. Either way, it was still a stupid thing to say. This is blue-state NYC. You just don't go there when it comes to any sort of racial comments because somebody will play the victim card.

I would have fired Clay but Markus had skated long enough. I did think it was a bad move to sass Trump after getting fired. Man, what an ego.

Indeed; both Clay and Markus should have been fired. And I want to know what they were thinking. Gosh, first thing I'd write on my resume for a corporate job is 'Lead 'Sex at Work' project for the LearningAnnex.' As an employer, I can feel the future lawsuit simmering on such a page.

Both teams have picked Randal, passing him back and forth. A clear message to The Donald whom the teams believe to be the best candidate. I don't care if Randal walks on water - picking him for anything at this point might help you skate another week, but you're not going to get the job.

Nice to see a better reward this week. Not exactly my style, but at those prices, I'd become a clothes pig if someone else was giving them away. (Investment for holiday fund when Randal gets the job..)

Markus - as much as Clay's dip into how tough it is to be an openly gay guy was less than entertaining to watch, seeing Markus open up that yoyo box and pull it out in the middle of the presentation was just the last straw. ARGH! I don't care how creative you may (and I never saw it in him) be, you have to be the one who bends the curve for a flea on an intelligence test to think that playing with toys in the middle of the presentation is a good idea.

Ping to tonight's episode.

I think Trump made the right decision tonight to fire both Brian and Marshawn.

Brian blew his team's chances when he got them to their meeting 30 minutes late.

I was very disappointed in Marshawn. I think she was trying to cover her a$$ when she bailed on the presentation. Her strategy totally backfired, and her double talk in the board room just sealed her fate.

I'm really looking forward to upcoming episodes. I expect Clay to self-destruct in a dramatic fashion, which I'm sure will be thoroughly entertaining.

On left coast so I won't see it for another couple of hours.

I'm still laughing about how Markus could speak in English yet be totally incomprehensible.

Hope this eppy is good =).

Can't wait for Clay to get fired, I think Randall will get the job, Alla will be a close second.
I like that he didn't waste time asking the PM to pick 2 people and come back.

Seems obvious to me that the final 2 are going to be Alla and Randal and that Randal will win. None of the remaining four can even put up a good case for being hired. Alla is the hardest worker and obviously can take charge and lead but I just don't see her background as a high-dollar Vegas stripper escaping Trump's attention all the way through the live finale. SOMEBODY has done the research by now and they won't let her win. I must say, though, I've been impressed with Alla as a contestant. She is the Tana of this season - a player that works too hard and too smart to fire but is just not a good corporate fit.

Rebecca and Adam are just too young and inexperienced to win. Gay Clay is never going to win and Felisha has set records for doing the least amount possible and still stay on the show. Seriously, what has she done to deserve lasting so long? Just wait for the Interview Episode where the CEOs get to look them over. Can you picture any of these four impressing them (except that CEO for Burger King)?

I totally agree with your analysis. I really like Alla, but I can't see Trump ever hiring her. Randal has the whole package--intelligence, personality, education, practical skills, common sense--and will fit in in a corporate environment.

Of course, I'm always scratching my head as to WHY any of these so-called multi-millionaires want to hitch their wagon to Trump. If you were that impressive to make a fortune at a young age, why aspire to be Trump's trained monkey like Bill Rancic? It's almost demeaning to see Bill trotted out like that. Kelly looks like he has no desire to hang out with Trump anymore and Kendra hasn't been seen at all since last spring.

You forgot the last part - a great story. Yeah, Randal is a runaway this season. And both teams have shown it by picking him.

Hi all, we missed the Thursday episode and I know usually CNBC re-airs it but I can't find a schedule anywhere. Anyone have an idea so I can watch this past week's episode?? Thanks.

Tuesday at 8pm EST and Pacific (5pm PST, 8pm PST, or 8pm EST, 11pm EST.)

What episode will air there is questionable. Different sites list different episodes. There was a two-fer on Thursday night - a clip episode followed by an original episode at 10pm. Yahoo lists an air date of January 9, 2004 (season 3?), TV Guide lists the clip episode re-airing, and another board says that it'll be the original episode.

Thanks a lot, we'll check it out on Tuesday. I won't care so much to miss the first part of the 2 hour show, it sounds like it was just recap.

Well, it's down to the Final Two - Randal vs. Rebecca and I don't think there's any doubt which one is going to win.

So what is Trump's big surprise? I think it will be one of two things - both involving Rebecca. I think either Trump will also offer Rebecca a job (albeit not the $250K "Apprentice" job) or that Matt (Rebecca's boyfriend) will propose to Rebecca on national television.

I agree it's all Randall. Somehow I don't think he will hire them both. He may offer to hire Rebecca when her ankle heals up at a lower position, maybe even Randall's assistant. They worked well together. Randall is a quality guy and Trump would be lucky to have him. I think he is as good or better than Bill. Rebecca is way better than Kendra who won last time around.

Hi.....new here but I'll put my two cents in....Randy is the most dynamic contestent the Donald has.

I knew Randy when he was a student in the high school where I work...he was the nicest, most polite, intelligent student I'd seen in a long time. He is exactly what you see on TV!

We are all rooting for him, here, obviously!! Really nervous about this evening but we have about 300 people who will be here tonight to watch the grand finale on a big screen TV in the auditorium!!!
