Episode 4 of Season 4 of The Apprentice is on tonight. I'm a little late in starting a discussion thread, but I'm enjoying this set of contestants more than those from the Season 2 and 3, so here goes.
Ping to FReepers who posted on prior Apprentice threads.
ClintonBeGone, do you still have your Apprentice ping list?
Hey count me in, the women implode this season. PC Donald hired his token woman last season so now he can pick a guy again, I'm thinking he's liking Randall quite a bit. If the women keep losing he'll probably mix up the teams coed. Although I did not like Toral I think Donald lost sight of the fact they lost the challenge because they did not have the branding on the character, Alla put the kibosh on that. I think the project manager should have been the one to go. Next week they won't have Toral as an excuse. The men are sure a wide mix of personalities but they know how to work as a team and get the job done.
Jenny the Genie I thought was pretty stupid was it was creative. All I could think of for a mascot was a "Jack Frost." It would have appealed to all as I think we can all recall sitting at the window drawing in the frost or just looking at the pretty design.
If I can do so on this thread. I think Martha's approach last week by not agreeing with the project manager's choice of people to bring to the conference room and recalling everyone back Martha showed she is geared toward result and seems to analyze what caused the loss. She doesn't appear concerned that they might not like each other.
Whereas, I think Trump is more about team effort and fitting in with little analysis of what caused the loss. Which seems contrary to me. He prides himself on uniqueness and doesn't much care what anyone thinks of him.
I also think that Martha does not get the respect from the contestants that Donald gets. They willingly openly and without reservation show their real personalities. In Donald's boardroom I have yet to see anyone disrespect a fellow contestant and the contestants rarely interrupt Donald when he is talking without asking permission.
The women players always come off as such dumbasses I have to wonder if any of them can remain in real business after they are fired. I certainly wouldn't hire them. Thank goodness for Carol otherwise there would be a real impression that young, pretty women are too stupid for a business environment. I'm a big fan of Carol. I was impressed, however, with the tall black girl (can't recall her name) who stepped in to "interpret" the character while the rest of them stood there with their jaws open. She did a smooth job, even though it was bull. I like people who can think on their feet.
Last night was the first time I've watched the Donald's Apprentice this season. I thought both of the teams Blizzard/DQ characters were awful. Both teams should have had to fire someone.
I have watched Martha's Apprentice two or three times and like the challenges presented there a lot more. I also agree as a poster mentioned above liked the fact that she went against the decision on who to send home. In her show it appears that both men and women contestants have their share of nitwits. lol
Not watching and wasn't even aware it had started again.
3 years of this nonsense was enough.
Thank you for pinging me.

BTW, on the Yahoo site there is commentary from Bren Olswanger, the smoking lawyer dwarf (A3) and Amy Henry, the girl from A1 who was among the Final Four.
So far on Donald's, the gals have shown they don't work well together while the guys initially had problems with the overtalkative Marcus but they seem to have bonded for the time being.
On Martha's, I was shocked that two openly gay men were the first ones fired but both were the right call. Whiny Dawn finally got the axe this week and Psycho Jim is still around but has been more controlled lately since he learned he'd become a father.
That said, the blondes came off as nasty cheerleaders when it was obvious that Toral was not going to be the mascot they became abusive.
The best challenge I've seen so far took place on the spoof show "My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss".
They gave each of the remaining contestants a live chicken. They had until 6 p.m. to barter the chicken for whatever else they could trade up for (no money could change hands but they could trade as often as they wanted before the end of the day) and then they each went back to the boardroom where professional appraisers put a monetary value on whatever they came back with. Lowest value got fired.
I enjoyed that episode because there wasn't backstabbing or politics. It was simply a test of one's ability to talk a deal.
My wife thought of a Penguin with a muffler with DQ logo, kind of like Chilly Willy (if I got the name right).

This ought to be a great episode. Trump will go on a firing binge. Remember they have 18 candidates for a 13-week job interview. Apparently somebody (somebodies) do such a horrible job that Trump sends a bunch of them home.
Fired the 4 worst on the team. Ouch!!!
That WAS a surprise. I wonder how late the rest of them waited up for someone to come in the door.........
I loved the cab ride. All four of them crammed into one cab in uncomfortable silence. It would have been better if they had started bickering.
They did look a tad uncomfortable in that cab. I wonder if they were told not to speak. I thought he would only fire Josh and Jen. Oh well!
Dang, that's right! I wonder who broke the news to them?
I thought it was unfair to fire Mark. He was following orders. The other three were somewhat culpable - Josh for botching the whole thing, James for the concept which proved counterproductive and Jennifer for hiring the snack vendor and not selling any radar guns ("is that what you call them?").
What shocked me is that once they re-organized, I thought Team Incompetence (the new Capital Edge) would surely be the ones to screw up big time. Other than Randal, it's a whole team of losers. Alla kept Randal and her dead-weight best friend then added Gay Clay, goof-off Markus and Adam. I still think they are a recipe for disaster.
I felt James was going far but now he's out. It's too bad Josh is gone because he was so quotable even if he wasn't a great candidate. He was great with those sidebar interviews. And losing Jennifer definitely reduces the hottie factor on the show but, face it, Miss Oregon was way out of her league.
Now they'll have to reorganize again because it is six against three. If Excel gets a choice, what do you bet they take back Randal?
