LOL. As far as "proper support" goes, I am on the debtor's column. She takes care of me like a king. I merely try to spoil her, somewhat, in return.
What guy has a wife who grouses if he hasn't found more books to buy at the book store? If I have something I want to get or spend time on, she is more insistant that I devote the time or resources, than ol' frugel Burke.

I think I will dub the pinglist name as the Vast Right Wing Knitting Circle...that does have a certain ring to it!

Now you are a saint among needleworking husbands (as is mine.) My hubby took me to a shop once where they sold spinning related materials and decided then and there to buy me a spinning wheel.
You and my dad have houses dedicated to the art of quilting. Of course you qualify!

Been out of pocket most of today, but I did manage to make a few pics: Tool Stash revelation time:
See my double pointed knitting needle collection. I was not kidding about needing to by stock in INOX needles!
(both pics of the same drawer.)
the four drawers of my knitting and crochet needle stuff (I also have a needle case for most sizes of straight needles):
My collection of baskets that have most of my embroidery thread stash:
But I am not going to admit to my yarn stash yet!

Can you say second sock syndrome? These are some socks I have designed, some of which never had a mate made, even if I sell the pattern!

I have drawers, tubs, 3 ring binders full of cross stitch patterns. Ziplock bags, hardware cabinets to hold the thread, drawers and at least 2 tackle boxes to hold the miscellaneous (scissors, fabric, needles, beads, threaders, detangler, etc). I often joke that when I die, hold a yard sale and sell my cross stitch stuff to pay for the funeral. LOL

A class might be a good way to get started. There are some basics that are pretty easy to learn. There are several ways of casting on stitches, but to knit a scarf, you only need to learn one, then how to do knit and purl, and you can knit a nice scarf. There's more to learn as you go along, but getting started that's what you need. Some yarn stores have classes, too.
And there are lots of websites with instructions. Some even animate gifs to help you see what you are doing.

Wow, I know where to come to get knitting needles if I even need some. :) I have one plastic bin with knitting needles and crochet hooks. What kind of needles do you like to knit with? Nancy Bush of Woolly Woolly West got me hooked on wood. Apparently there is a new type of circular knitting needle out that is metal, but knits like a dream. Have you used those type of needles?
I have a basket full of embroidery floss also. It is Anchor and DMC. And another basket of specialty threads.
Here is the belt I learned to make last night. It only took me an hour to do the first row. :( It's the first time I've done the basket stitch and in suede to boot. The teacher was a bit nervous. I tend to do that until I pick up the stitch.

You do deserve an honorary membership in our club. A Bernina Quilter's Edition sewing machine! I am sooo jealous.

I love stitching but I really want to learn knitting. Stitching is easier (to me) but knitting is harder when you don't know someone who does it. My granny taught herself to crochet. Now that I have a real job, I'm buying a stitchwork set this weekend. I've not done stitchwork in years.

Most of the time I use Inox or Skacel metal needles...I find that the wooden needles don't slide as much, and with my knitting style, that slows me down. Also, I always break the smaller ones!
I have an assortment of circulars...Inox and skacel, old nylon ones and a few others.
But if the needle will do the job, I'm not totally a needle snob. I have a lot of Boye needles as well, especially on my single pointed needles.
I also like the Swallow casien needles.

Beautiful! :-)
We have a cat who looks just like that, but he doesn't wear glasses yet. lol We live in fear of the day he grows opposable thumbs -- he's THAT smart.
It would make a great Tshirt. My children said they knew I reached middle age when I started buying Tshirts with puppies and kittens on them. lol
