Drilling in the Arctic

Posted on 10/10/2005 10:22:42 AM PDT by rightonrepublican

In the aftermath of Katrina and the soaring gas prices, it would be nice to get some relief. Since LA is so impacted right now, I think that drilling in Alaska could offer some relief. Shouldn't we drill in the Arctic despite the hippies who say NO?

Don't need to drill just yet in Alaska.

One thing is certain in this world and that is change.

I know where I live more farms are going to sale for real estate and individual homes very day. We sure wish we could go back and save those farms , but we cant. Why should Anwar be any different? It isnt like the small portion where they would drill will ruin the whole region.

Welcome to FR. What good id drilling without refining capacity? The hurricanes impacted refining capacity, primarily.

Yeah...in about 10 years.

How many Americans have made their pilgrimage to ANWAR, or even plan to in this lifetime? The 'Screaming Green Weasels' drive around in their holier than thou hybrid SUVs…they want cheap gas for their rides and Mass Transit for everybody else.

Where might we be if Slick had allowed it 10 years ago? No matter what the solution is we will not get there overnight and as long as we sit with our thumbs ensconced safely up our collective arses nothing will get better.

Current drilling methods are clean and non-disruptive.

Drilling has never been as clean or as safe as it is now. With horizontal drilling, it's like standing at mid-field and having access to the whole gridiron.

Drill early and often. P.S. - Greetings from Texas!

I have watched threads like this one rail on and on that the solution is more drilling. You are no different.

Here the deal guys and gals. Approximately, 20% 4 milllion gallons of oil per day is used to generate electricity. WHY? Because the whing green tree hugers have forced it thru EPA eviornment issues. IT is easier to met clean burn issues by using Natural gas and fuel oil than COAL.

GUYS AND GALS GET YOUR HEAD SCREWED ON STRAIGHT. 4 MILLION GALLONS OF OIL A DAY FOR DRIVING JUST BY GENERATING WITH NUCULAR POWER AND COAL.

THAT IS HALF OF THE TOTAL USED BY THE USA FOR DRIVING.

I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE ELSE TO SEE THE WISDOM.

HERE THE DEAL KIDDIES. USA USE APPROXIMATELY 22 MILLION BARRELS PER DAY FOR EVERYTHING. AUTOMOBILE USE APPROXIMATELY 8-9 MILLION BARRELS.

LET'S HUBSBANDRY OUR TOTAL RESOURSE PACKAGE.

MANAGEMENT OF ALL RESOURCES, COAL 2000 YEARS WORTH, AND NUCULAR POWER SHOULD GENERATE 100% OF OUR ELECTRICITY. JUST THINK IF THAT LOCAL TRAVEL VEHICLES WERE POWERED BY ELECTRICALY BATTERIES. OUR GASOLINE NEEDS WOULD BE CUT EVEN MORE.

I'm all for Coa-to-gasoline/diesel plans and I'm all for Nukes as well.

But the oil is just sitting there waiting to be freed.

XXXXXXXXXX

yep. I pulled out the broken keyboard for that last rant.

This drilling will solve everything, is a "STUCK ON STUPID" thing you know.

4 million gallons a day transfered from electricity generation to automobiles by burning coal for electricity sounds pertty simple to us farmers. The world will run short of oil before my children before my children take their final nap.

Guess thats why we make do with broken keyboards.

If the hippies lived in a shack and picked up dead wood (forest fire kindling) to heat their homes or lived by candleling or went shopping using a bicycle, I might say they have a right to speak up on this. But they rely on the same sources that we do and complain about the prices. Hypocrits all!!
