Good for your MOM! I kind of want a younger man, too. Unless I can find one my age with my mental age or near there! Most men my age are so stodgy! I don't want him too much younger, though. Been there, done that! Disaster for me.

For those in smaller towns, there may be few other options.

That's true to an extent....because I used that excuse often. *chuckle* I could join dance clubs or go to hotspots in the metroplex if I got desperate (hope it never comes to that)....but I guess that's not very comfortable for me.

I have more fun engaging in conversation and going places that are in a more "low-key" mode. I was a Mom, wife and nurse for so long....that I'm not sure that I fit in most single situations. *smile* I guess that takes time. I've been divorced for just over 2yrs and was married a total of 30. Maybe I need to be deprogrammed? ha!

Good grief! How do you do that for free? Can you do it without them knowing it?

It's not very comfortable for anybody over 25. There is a shortage of "grown-up" social settings in America - everything is youth-oriented. Listening to hip-hop music at tremendous volumes isn't my idea of a pleasant night out. ;)

Do you get attached to the characters who die? I don't like for characters to whom I have become attached to die.

You sound a lot like me. I am an R.N. (not practicing but still licensed), have been a wife (widow now), mother, and grandmother (at the age of 41)! Life is not easy for women like us who are alone.

Love that "peas" poem. I love peas!

How are you doing?

Have you had snow?

Background checks cost $$. But if you just ASK them if you can do one on them....they'll run for the hills and you can save yourself the money. *chuckle* Publicdata.com and KnowX.com are the two I use. You can do it without them knowing...if you know their first/last name and city/state. It's not good to invade someone's privacy unless you think you may want to meet them..... which is why I'm pretty up-front about it.

Good idea. Do you ever end up insulting a really nice person, or do the good ones welcome your being so careful? You are right about not doing it behind their backs. I thought of that after I wrote it.

I enjoy hip-hop and rap about as much as I enjoy beating my head against a wall. *chuckle* I used to go to concerts, the theater, ballet (I was in ballet for 7yrs so I enjoy it) ......blues/jazz clubs and bluegrass fests, were a fave as well. I also used to boot-scoot... but haven't done that in years either. Wow.... I'm DULL!!! lol My only excuse is that I've spent the better part of two years working and getting my feet on the ground. :)

I didn't, but then I hadn't seen the series before. A lot happens in a short time, but none of the real "main" characters die.

Usually......the only ones insulted by it...are the ones who have something they're hiding. If they are really nice people...they would want me to protect myself and know they'd want that reassurance for their own daughters as well.

I dunno...one of 'em I would consider a main character. That one was rough, IMO, if only because it was so sudden and I liked the character.

On the whole, the movie has a pretty positive ending. But it does leave room for sequels, so there isn't an absolutely perfect resolution. It doesn't leave things hanging...that's not what I mean - I just mean that though the ending isn't completely happy, you get the feeling there's more to come, and therefore it's OK. If that makes sense?

I guess I didn't really like him much, so I didn't care...LOL! If there was a main character that had to die, he was the one.

Mal is a great character - as long as the movies/shows are built around him, they can keep the Serenity universe going for a long while.

My on-line experiences have been similar. Pretty much a waste of time. I wrote to several women, and most of them did not return my messages. Probably think I am too poor, too unattractive, too nerdy, etc...
