Watching Fox News to catch up on the latest Delay news, I see that Rick Folbaum is filling in for Shep Smith.
My two cents says Folbaum is better than Shep. Smith is too 'hot,' not in the Paris Hilton meaning, but in the sense that the show often seems more about him than about the news. He's a distraction.
Folbaum seems more of a straightforward TV news journalist. He wears better.
Your thoughts?
By the way, Folbaum refereed a debate on the Delay matter between Democrat Cong. Pasquale of New Jersey and Republican McHenry of North Carolina. I have to admit I thought Pasquale got the better of the exchange. He came across as more spontaneous and real. McHenry, as Pasquale pointed out, seemed to be reading from a list of talking points.
Here's a link to Folbaum's bio:

I believe your last sentence makes a telling point and sums things up. Spot on.
Shep grates on me the same way katie couric does, so I take the same defensive action - change the channel!
Amen! Fox would get me back for those two hours. As it is, I watch reruns of Law and Order.
Distaff if you're curious.
You've got it right. The Fox line-up is awesome.
LOL. Distaff, eh? I'm always interested ;-)
It's interesting: Katie & Co. drive me up the wall, yet I watch out of some strange fascination. But I find Shep simply intolerable, and tune him out.
FINAL TALLY
Pro-Folbaum or Anti-Shep: 32
Pro-Shep [there were no anti-Folbaum]: 10
You should have read the rest of the thread .. you could have saved yourself the time and effort to send me a msg.
LOL. my late mother who was in her eighties swooned over Smith.
I just don't see it; Folbaum is a hunk.
My daughter and her husband watch Shep, and I also watch him ever since I quit watching Matthews way back when. (I think Shep appeals to young people, which is a good thing.) IMO, Shep does a good job with the news. I believe he got stressed out in New Orleans watching those people without food and water for days. That would have been tough for anyone. Britt's the best.
I have Fox on about 18 hours per day (it used to be 24/7).
I have caught Shep in ignorant statements, bias, and hysteria. My taste is more to the Brit Hume style. Shep is not believable, trustworthy, or watchable.
I could say the same about myself.
I still like me, tho. : )
I am realistic enough to know that Shep appeals to a group of youngsters who like his hip attitude. I just choose to watch something else when he is on. And I still think he is a jerk.
Shep gets my attention, and he's good for a laugh or two.. like when he kept losing his hat during Hurricane Rita :) We gave him a rough time, but still, I'll take him over the dull and boring Anderson Coopers of this world.
sw
Shep sucks!! I do my best not to watch him.
When Shep is on, I flip to the Food channel.
I get less news, but I am becoming quite a cook!! LOL
You're watching way more closely than I am. Usually I'm doing something else w/the TV on in the background at that time of day.
I like Brit, I like Gibson, tho I've heard him say some foolish things, especially when he is hosting Tony's radio show. I like Tony Snow a lot and listen to him when Rush isn't on. BOR has been getting on my nerves for a long time now. I also like Nine Inch Nails and Mozart. : ) I'm flexible that way.
I guess I just don't take this all that seriously. I'm glad we have FNC and I realize they're going to have a variety of personalities just like any other channel. But personally, I'd be more upset if I lost FR than if I lost FNC.
Mea culpa.
Roger that ~ we get Shep here at noon and 4:00PM.
I think Shep has been having a thing with Jane Skinner, they seem much more friendly than just workmates. ;)
Yeah ~ it makes you wonder what's missing in the lives of people that accuse others of being homosexual with just speculation. *sigh*
The beauty of the FNC folks is that the "B" team is usually better than the competition's "A" team (no Mr. T reference).
I like Shep a lot, especially his on-location coverage. I think he really remade his image down in New Orleans, and took it to a while new level.
