Lets have this argument settled before '08

Posted on 09/28/2005 8:26:02 AM PDT by mark in iowa

Question: We all have time to pursuade and influence others in our movement and those outside or uninformed about conservatism. Then our performance is graded during the republican primaries. Generally our candidates were close in ideology with some differences. What happens next is puzzling, rather than vote for the candidate that was not exactly what I was looking for, we decide to either not vote or vote for an independent, thus ultimately putting a liberal in office. Bottom line is do you want a 90, 80, or 70% Republican or a 100% liberal. Mind you I am a 100% guy but I would just like to hear arguments either way. Thanks.

You forgot to put a question mark in your vanity question.

FWIW, 79.325% is my current limit, but that is subject to change.

I would never vote independant and risk putting a Democrat into office. Why risk putting a 100% liberal Democrat into office when you can have a 99.8% liberal Republican. Some of these third party apologists are just crazy!

OK. In an industrial accident would you prefer to lose a finger, or a hand?

What exactly is the argument to be settled?

Is it:
Social liberalism vs social conservatism
Free spending Republicanism vs. fiscal conservatism
Is it open border vs. border security

Or is it all 3

I'm not voting for a democrat or a democrat with an (R) in front of his name and that's all there is to it.

If the limb is too far gone to you amputate or take off a finger?

I'm a 100% Conservative. I would just like to see no liberal in any office anywhere and I'm just trying to think of ways to make it happen. I think it can be done by unity on our side, thus the reason for my post.

Well, well. You're in IOWA which means you get to decide who I, out in CA, have to have on the GOP ticket in 2008. My vote in national primaries have never mattered. It's always been settled before CA even with our primary moved forward.

In the general I'll vote for the lesser of two evils. I voted Perot in 1992 and I don't regret it. What I do regret are squandered votes for BobDole and, with how things are going, W.

With the lack of fiscal discipline, unless this NOLA situation avoids taxes and borrowing, I'll be tempted to aim for divided government. There's no will in a GOP Congress (I'm looking at you, Tom DeLay) to hold spending down when they have the White House too.

Have you ever had Michael Cloud shake your hand in front of a
large room full of people because you just donated $100.00 yet
then ask for the last $20.00 in your wallet while he still has your
hand looking you right in the eye?

For some reason, I'm imagining a nation of mice, debating whom to elect as leader - a black or a calico CAT.

I'm a 100% person. 100% disgusted with the GOP senate. There usually aren't many democrats on the ticket who are 100% anything just like there are not many GOP candidates on the ticket that are 100%. Is a 70% dim worse than a 70% GOP? I don't know. One you know is going to screw you. The other surprises you after the election. Which is worse?

Do you amputate the bad limb then infect two more limbs?
