My dad was murdered in 92 and I couldn't watch a crime show or ones with shooting for a year...

I am sorry about your dad. When I was a little girl, only 5, my family was on a vacation. We stoppped one night at a gas station and as my dad was going into the store to pay a young man took a gun and shot himself right beside my father. My dad tried to get the gun but was not able to. It was the most horrible thing to watch happen. I had nightmares for a long time after that and I still cannot watch anything really violent on tv. Always have to cover my eyes. This was a complete stranger for me so I cannot imagine what you must be have gone through when it was your own father. I am so very sorry.

An annoyed Linda sniped, “They’re just idiots.” .....

This is the very reason no one likes them. I know they are kids but they all act (including the mom) like little bratty children. Throwing the apple cores, calling names and being just rude in the beginning when others would try to talk with them caused them to alienate the other teams. Not a good way to try to win the race. I am surprised they have made it this far. Of course, they have worked together well as a team. I will give them that.

In 2001, during a road trip to NM, I finally got to see the Grand Canyon at ground level after flying over it a few times in the past. Thankfully we spend a couple of hours there and caught a beautiful sunset.

Looks like these folks had only a very few moments to enjoy this venue.

I thought the dogfight and the race track were both fun and not grueling roadblocks.

Wally's got some nice looking daughters. Wonder when he ever got the energy to produce the girls? He must have been younger.

Anyone notice that the Weaver son doesn't say ONE WORD?

I enjoy watching TAR but i am frustrated now because I don't think a single team left is deserving of winning the prize

I really like the Linz family. They seem to be really having fun. I was pulling for them to come in first last night.

At least it wasn't the Weaver family. Did anyone notice at the race track when the pink ladies came over to the Weaver kids and genuinely consoled them. The kids thanked them by insulting them and calling them liars behind their backs.

This edition I am pulling for the Linz's and even more hoping for the Weavers to LOSE.

Yes, at last some SCENERY. The sequences in the canyon were mesmerizing. Like you, I've flown over Grand Canyon many times, but still have not seen it on the ground. And also last night, at last a little something to feed my airport fetish. So that's two plusses. But overall, the screeching is so obnoxious to me, I have to turn down the sound.

I saw the Paolo family on some morning show this morning. Basically nice people, entirely unpretentious. The older boy seems quite bright, which was not clear on TAR.

I would like the grating, fingernails-on-the-blackboard "Christians" to get eliminated. They're an embarrassment, the kind of people I call Kristians--superficially holy but nasty to the core. Why do we have to contend with them on this show? Cynical producers, maybe.

Do you think after seeing their behavior on air they'll finally understand and change their ways? Naw, doubt it.

Gawd, his weakness/laziness/whatever is getting old fast. I've been wondering about him ever since he couldn't be bothered to summon up enough energy to say no-no when they mooned the other team.

That would require introspection, honesty and and cooperation with the Holy Spirit. Not likely, but possible.

That bothered me as well. It also bugs me that the daughters call him Wally and not DAD. It just seems so disrespectful.

Yes I have and I have also noticed that he seems to be a nice kid. His quietness probably comes from being around three screaming self absorbed holier than thou biatches.

LOL, I must admit that if in the same circumstance, I probably would have let my daughters do the same thing.

As far as physical exertion goes, Wally is either lazy, or is in serious need of a major medical checkup after the show.

(((TAR Ping)))

FYI, The Amazing Race will not be seen tonight,
but will return with an all new episode next week.
Until then, enjoy the Country Music Awards (sigh :)

I'm thinking about starting a separate live thread for the CMAs tonight if anyone's interested. The show starts at 8pm EST on CBS.

Thanks for the info. At least if we have to miss TAR, the CMA awards is a good replacement. ;)

Actually, "My Name is Earl" is pretty darn funny. This would be a good chance for TAR fans to catch an episode.

Blah, can't stand any of the awards shows so am greatly disappointed in tonight's viewing choices. Guess it'll be Earl for me.
