I'm a huge LOTR fan (the book). The movie was reasonably good. The chief weakness of the movie, IMO, was the characterization of Aragorn (Viggo M.). In the movie, he is full of doubts, reluctant to fulfill his destiny, and not sure he wants to marry the most beautiful woman in the world.
I can understand why Viggo was dying to play the part.

I loved the LotR movies... But I thought Viggo/Aragon always had this pained look on his face like someone suffering severe long term constipation.

He already did the "No Blood for Oil" tour when he was on Charlies Rose' show with Peter Jackson and Elijah Wood. I think he likened Saruman to G.W. Bush at one time.
He was only barely adequate as Aragorn IMO. He did well as "Strider" in film one, but never reached heroic dimensions in the later films, IMO. The Two Towers was the weakest film IMO because it wasted a lot of time on the whole Aragorn self-doubt thing, and a silly subplot suggesting that Aragorn might have died (which fooled no one). All in all, I loved the films, but not because of the Viggster. Personally, I think there will be little career for him after LOTR.
