NEXT SERVICES 250 MILES
I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of the response. Pretty darn good is about the best you can expect (or want) from the federal government. I have a good friend in the thick of it in Biloxi, and his accounting of the response by the state, feds and Red Cross on the Friday following the hurricane was very good (and he's a hard core leftist without the DU hatred).
Thanks for a solid wrap up of a debate that has gone on too long. I'll consider this "case closed."

A GOOD A.M. TO YOU HONORABLE CHAIR, TO ALL FROM THE BATTERED, BRUISED GULF COAST OF MISSISSIPPI, AND A NEW DAY IS COMING!
Kassie, looks like the storm is heading your way, take care, be safe and my home is open to you all if you need to head this way. We will MAKE room for you.
I hit a low spot last night, felt like nothing is getting done, looked as if no end is in sight, traffic is terrible, WalllMart is crowded, no place to go out and eat, yet. NO DISH!! You have no idea how one fells if FORCED to watch ABC, the only station we can get. Then I think of the new days coming, all this will be behind us and we will sit around a talk about the 'old times'.
But, I look out my window and see the sun shinning thru the trees, no wind, ever so hot, 97 today, house full of SI L's kin, babies crying, old men sitting around (including me) telling 'war stories', me bored stiff yet, ever so thankful to be on this old earth with my family, my heart, and the first love of my life, my Allie and I think, 'things ain't so bad after all'.
Goat ot go to the shop in town and get SIL'S car today, broke down and he needs it (not really, my car is at his 'beck and call'. He is learning to do that adjusting thing pretty good now and tells me that he sees so many sad claims, entire households gone, nothing.Grown men standing with hat in hand with tears asking 'what am I to do now'.
I sure thank you that have sent me apple receipts, they look good, D is going to print them out and put them in her book and fix some apples just real soon. Now, one that I learned I want to pass it on to YOU, Peanut butter, Melt some in a pot and pour it over ice cream, talking about good. We got lots of peanut butter here now, jars and jars and jars of the stuff, the church gave it to us.
Some days it is hard to get motivated, today in one of them for me, maybe thing will change to perk me up later but right now down, down, down.\
I can't go a day without telling you how much each of you mean to me, we talk back and forth, miles and miles apart but really next door to each other and it goes to show you, this world ain't so big after all.
I am off to I don't know where, check on my chickens, feed them, water them and, maybe talk to them but I can tell you ole Bill is happy, he has 19 hens now.
Have a good and safe day. Toby
