I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of the response. Pretty darn good is about the best you can expect (or want) from the federal government. I have a good friend in the thick of it in Biloxi, and his accounting of the response by the state, feds and Red Cross on the Friday following the hurricane was very good (and he's a hard core leftist without the DU hatred).

Thanks for a solid wrap up of a debate that has gone on too long. I'll consider this "case closed."

Good morning! Excellent explanation of the logistics involved n bringing help to the areas devastated by Katrina.

So, what to do? Clearly, this is an area where even the most die-hard conservative would agree there is a role for the central Government to get things going again, to begin the process of rebuilding and moving in basic supplies.

Chairman, you obviously don't frequent some ofthe threads I have been reading on the other side. There are quite a few pepople who think that the federal government has NO role to play in this disaster. I am not making this up.

Yes. I had one tell me this morning that the Interstate Highway System was unconstitutional.

I told him he could try and sell that to the general public, but I wasn't going to be there with him. Then he wanted to know where there was a forum for REAL conservatives! LOL!

I tell you, people like that are why I don't recommend this site to most people. Reading a few threads full of those nutcases would make a newbie think they had signed on to a forum full of mental cases.
