Me. :-)
Granted, I'm not sure I'd like the kinda mincemeat pie that was posted earlier - actually containing meat. But the kind that's in the stores around the holidays? That's good stuff. Especially with a generous amount of real whipped cream.
Eggplant Parmesian.....I would go to bed hungry before I ate that crap....
Cheerios with milk. My brother ate those all the time and I couldn't stand the smell of them.
Milk over toast. My dad always made me eat this when I was sick--just made me sicker.
I liked liver and onions right up to about 5th grade when I got too brainy for my own good and discovered what livers *do*. Ugh. My little brother capitalized on this on days when I had been particularly horrid to him. "Gee, Mom, we haven't had liver in forever!" he'd say and she'd happily put it on the grocery list. He didn't care for it much himself but he loved watching me squirm. As an adult I can tolerate liver and onions once in a blue moon.
My dad was big into sardines on saltines. Yeeech.
Mmmm... food.
I SAW THAT!!! Remember what the anthropologist guy said when he tasted it? "Peanut butter!"
My hubby likes jello salad as well.
I finally saw the movie! I'm in lust. It was wonderful!
Lima beans, brussel sprouts. Eggs I've never been a fan of. The only way I can and will eat them is if I can drown them in a good gravy served with biscuits.
I like sardines and crackers...but some brands are wayyyyyy better than others.
King Oscar sardines are wonderful.
My Dad likes Limburger cheese. Now THAT'S nasty. Smells like the nastiest dirty diaper you can imagine. How anyone could put that in their mouth is beyond me. *gag*
The lady who did our lunches at school always overcooked the cabbage, and the whole school just STUNK! I never ate cabbage until I was an adult and a friend fixed some stir-fried cabbage for me. I realized I like it just fine when it wasn't cooked to death!
My late Daddy-in-law said that he and his fellow soldiers in WWII called that sh*t on a shingle. ;o)
Heh...my Mom's Dad was in the Air Corps back in the 40s, and that's what they called it.
Mom sanitized it to jokingly call it "poop on a roof", but we weren't really supposed to call it that, either...
I am SO VERY glad to hear you loved it too! It's such a neat story (and I loved the subtle, unforced pace of the whole movie). But what that incredible man can do just with sidelong glances is probably illegal in several states. (LOL!)
I loved chipped beef with gravy on toast. My Mother called it "Roses in the Snow". Yummy.
I hated liver and onions. Especially when it got cold while you sat at the table gagging it down.
That's a much nicer name. I gotta remember that.
I like it over homemade biscuits, too. Mmmm...good! It was one of my brothers' most requested meals when I still lived near home.
beets and the candy whoppers
During WWII:
before school; orange juice with cod liver oil in it!
Disgusting.
I think that was part of my objection too, that I knew what function livers serve. Yeck. Sometimes, it would have paid to be a little less of a bookworm!
And what is it about dads eating really gross food? And liking it? LOL!
Rutabaga.
Blech!!!!!!!!! But they really are good for you. My best friend's Mom used to make stuffed squash, and that ranks right up there on the Blech meter. Hominy might top my list. I love salmon croquettes. Our children, on the other hand, HATE them.
