Is it my misunderstanding or in order to get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, shouldn't you have to play Rock and Roll?

I'd rather pull my toenails out with a pair of pliers than listen to his whiny garbage. Well, on the other hand, if I needed to fall asleep fast, listening to Yusaf could easily do the trick.

Not if your liberal and anti-american. That is much more 'relevant' than such minor concerns, like standards.

And am I correct that Lynyrd Syknyrd is still not there? Any so-called Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that doesn't include them, that would even consider Cat Stevens, is a joke.

I used to buy his LPs when I was in high school in the early 70's. Too bad he turned out the way he did. At least Hendrix has a legacy.

If Cat Stevens, does that mean Raffi can get into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What about Barney the Dinosour and The Giggles. Yusef is about on the same level.

Rock and Rollover Hall of Fame. Oooh baby, baby it's a wild world, when Yusuk Islam is considered a rocker.

Will he be going in as Yusuf Islam?
They'd better put him through a metal detector and cavity search before letting this clown in for the ceremony.
To: Brainhose
He also wrote two great tunes made famous by others:"Here Comes My Baby", by the Tremeloes [a great rocker], and "The First Cut is the Deepest", done by both Rod Stewart and Sheryl Crowe.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame continues to dilute the honor induction should bring. Cat Stevens ain't no Cat Scratch Fever.

No Lynyrd Skynyrd? No Yusuf Islam (may hog snot and dog poo be upon him)!
BTW, I am old enough to remeber all of the 70's (but young enough to remeber it clearly, without the coke, pot, and LSD-induced fog). He really wasn't all that spectacular.

Thank God there was so much great R & B during the 70's so that I didn't have to listen to whiney twerps like Cat Stevens....

To get in the rock hall of shame. You dont have to play rock and roll or have any talent or brains. Thats why Bon Jovie is in and Lynyrd Skynrd isnt!!

This would mean it is actually a Pop Music Hall of Fame, which opens the door for such giants as Gerry and the Pacemakers or the Partridge Family session musicians, both of which crafted music every bit as "good" as anything Yusuf Islam did before he became a terrorist enabler.

Let me put it on my "To-Do List" just after "mash nuts flat with a sledgehammer."

His noxious and repugnant current political views notwithstanding, Cat Stevens is a qualified candidate for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. When the genre was moving towards the end of its first stage (also, as it happens, the last time it was interesting) Stevens played a transformative role in its development.
Besides his hits, which haven't aged very well but are nevertheless better than much of the crap out there today, he wrote two songs that will last forever: Boy with the Moon and Star on His Head and The Wind
I listen to the Wind
To the wind of my soul
Where I'll end up
Well I think only God really knows
I've sat upon the setting sun
But never never never
I never wanted water once
No never never never
I listen to my words but they fall far below
I let my music take me where my heart wants to go
I danced upon the devil's lake
But never never never
I'll never make the same mistake
No never never never
