The big series starts tonight. Sox up by 4 and magic number is 20. I posted this under crime given Giambi the cheaters use of roids.
Fat biy Wells takes the hill tonight for the World Champions.
HAH!
Today has been an old fashioned pitchers' duel. Wakefield has 12 Ks through 6 innings, Johnson looks to be in vintage form.
I am listening to WEEI via MLB.com I am waiting for Johnson to tire. But he sounds pretty dominant so far
He hurt his knee and has not come out to start the 8th.
WEEI was speculating it was his back.
He was hopping around a bit. Looked like a slight twist of the knee. He did manage to whiff Millar on a 96MPH pitch high and away on his next pitch.
Tough loss, but it's not like Wake pitch badly and the Sox still have a 3 game lead.
There's more than enough Red Sox nuts here to keep you up to date.
That was a classic pitching match up and you have to just accept it as a great game by both sides. Both pitchers were making each team look bad and the K's were great to watch.
You don't see many of these any more.
Yeah, isn't that strange? My husband is a Californian, and although we live in Connecticut, we've spent a good deal of time out there. As a life-long east coaster, I will never get used to morning football! ;-D
We needed to win 1 and we did. 3 games up with 3 games at home is right where we wanted to be. I think the Yanks may be in serious trouble on this 3 game set in Tampa. Wright, Wang, and Small will be on the mound, I think. The Drays have already figured out Wang and Wright and the Yanks needed a bottom of the 9th rescue from Giambi to get Wright off the hook, and there won't be any bottom of the 9th opportunities in Tampa. We have two big series to take care of-- at Toronto and hosting the As. If we are 3 games up on Monday morning, I think the division is locked up.
According to Tradesports, we have about an ~83% chance at the division and Anaheim has about a 67% to win the west. Indians have a 47% chance to win the WC and the Yanks are at 27%.
12 - 4 Tribe. WOW!!!! They face a good team in the Athletics the next 3 games. Good luck!
He OUGHT to be good, but he just doesn't make it happen. I was thrilled when the Tribe dumped him."
The Yanks got Lawton from the Indians??
Gee, thanks for dumpin' your trash in New York ;-)
Btw, I don't now HOW your Tribe is still in this Wild Card hunt, but they're making me noivous.
Lawton got passed around first: Pirates and Cubs were involved I think, and someone else.
Well, it's a half-a-game, tied on the loss side.
My fearless prediction is that it is do-or-die in the AL East. After the Yankees and Boston are done beating up on each other, the one that does not get the pennent is not going to get the wild card either.
My other fearless prediction is that the Yanks are going to seal the deal by sweeping the three-game set in Boston.
Before the season started the Indians traded Lawton to the Pirates for Arthur Rhodes. Getting Lawt out of our ourfield instantly improved our defense. Then the Pirates later traded him to the Cubs, and then he wound up in NY.
