Again the double standards! I can't stand it.
But on the bright side, after spending the past 2 months down here, my mom now watches FOX news instead of NBC.

From the article:
Lewinsky, a former White House intern whose affair with [x42] nearly brought down his presidency, will be working on a degree in social psychology, a school spokeswoman said. Is she going to be the guinea pig in the psych lab?

I think the officials of Louisiana need a big civics lesson on how government operates. Dodo heads.

to your *85 Well thank goodness the American people aren't buying into the liberal take on Katrina!!!
I just heard Dingle screeching about FEMA. Also, Err America talk show anarchists are saying Michael Brown should be "lynched" or worse.
Then there is little (minded) Nancy Polisi saying there will be an investigation and heads will roll.
I am REALLY getting tired of FEMA and our President taking hits!!!

My guys at base camp are pretty unhappy with the way the lame-stream media is presenting this disaster. Many have been to New Orleans, and know about the local corruption. Many see the media has an agenda to hurt the President.
And lots of folks at the base camp are getting ready to leave. Some have already arranged for short tours in NO, to help relieve the suffering.
One of our Navy boaties (reservist) lost her home, completely, to the hurricane. We've taken up a collection, and the command is going to find her some work to keep her employed, and with a roof over her head for the time being.
I love working for these guys. They are the salt of the earth.

I fell asleep. Back-to-back 17 hour days will do that to you. I've been off the island for 3 hours, and I'm going to fall asleep with a book, as I lounge on the couch. I'll probably wake up at some point, and be back online. See you then.
Town painting is out of the question tonight. I'm just too tired.

Sounds like Toby, stick with the name.
Howdy All. Beautiful here today, only 91 degrees.

I guarantee that many speculators have lost their shirts over the last couple days.Mr. Prairie says many times an event such as this is what forces the high into the market and lower prices then follow. He says the public money showed up in the gas/oil market and the smart money was more than happy to sell out to the public.
We did see the pumps are a bit lower here, when we went out this afternoon.

So, Chair, I finally got a chance to look for this. It seems N.O. did have at least a cursory evacuation plan, but they didn't do much to implement it, from the looks of it. I don't know whether you would call this an evacuation plan or not:
http://www.cityofno.com/portal.aspx?portal=46&tabid=26 , but: an excerpt of this article describes some stuff in it:
http://www.libertypost.org/cgi-bin/readart.cgi?ArtNum=108141
Section III-B-V lists the tasks assigned to the various city government offices in the event of a hurricane catastrophe. The Mayor has three tasks: to initiate the evacuation, to retain overall control of the emergency operation, and then to authorize a return to the evacuated areas. The city's Office of Emergency Preparedness (OEP) reports to the mayor and must coordinate with the NOPD, the state OEP, and the regional transit authorities to:
* Supply transportation as needed in accordance with the current Standard Operating Procedures.
* Place special vehicles on alert to be utilized if needed.
* Position supervisors and dispatch evacuation buses.
* If warranted by scope of evacuation, implement additional service.
So the failure to order the buses out of their yards wasn't some failure of imagination on the part of Nagin and New Orleans. It isn't a case of the city not understanding the scale of what a Cat-4 storm could do to the city. According to New Orleans' own emergency plan, those buses should have rolled at least as soon as the mandatory evacuation order was given on Saturday, if not when the voluntary evac order came earlier. The city's OEP failed to carry out this crucial part of the emergency-response plan, which is why so many of the poor, infirm, and just plain stubborn citizens got stranded when the levees broke.
And did the city anticipate the amount of people that would get left behind? Apparently so, and designated shelter for 100,000 of them. Curiously, the Superdome does not appear on this order:
Shelter demand is currently under review by the Shelter Coordinator. Approximately 100,000 Citizens of New Orleans do not have means of personal transportation. Shelter assessment is an ongoing project of the Office of Emergency Preparedness through the Shelter Coordinator.
The following schools have been inspected and approved as Hurricane Evacuation Shelters
