Hell Has Frozen Over: NBC Nightly News is talking about the flooded school buses.
6 Sep 2005 | PhilipFreneau

Posted on 09/06/2005 3:51:20 PM PDT by PhilipFreneau

The title says it all. NBC News is currently reporting on "Missed Opportunities" -- actions that could have saved lives. One of those missed opportunities is the 200+ flooded school buses. NBC is even referring to the evacuation plan and its reference to the school buses.

"Today the mayor would not comment [on the flooded school buses]," reported NBC's Lisa Myers.

I kid you not! The report is only five or six days after Free Republic reported it, and only three or four days after Drudge reported it!

usmcobra and i checked the RTA lots and he found some possible RTA vehicles, pics at the end of the thread below.

just a few vehicles at the Desire Parkway lot. there are RTA vehicles in post #167 (2817 Canal St lot) and in post #238 of possible RTA vehicles from the Desire Parkway lot. The Willow St. address is the streetcar barn and looks like an enclosed facility.

Yep, the Willows Street facility was the street car barn for the St. Charles street car. There was a time I rode it a lot...and then took the Tulane bus back to town to connect to the Broad St. bus to get home to New Orleans East....things kids do...

Don't celebrate.... MSM is STILL the enemy.

The ONLY reason they will say anything about the buses, is because the story has already broken, the pictures are out there, the questions have already been asked on the Networks....

MSM is the tale being wagged by the dog on this story, but the tail wagging the dog on the BLAME BUSH agenda..

Below is the first post I have seen about the buses on DemocratUnderground forum...

How long did it take for the poster to get banned?

"I don't think it's all that important that FR get credit. In the overall scheme of things, what's important is that we're becoming a force that changes what is reported in this country."

I agree with you to a point Dog. But that fact that this info would not be out there without FR is obvious.

I am not going through 200,000 posts on the origional thread to find out what Freeper it was. But we should certainly say thank you to that Freeper.

I also read somewhere that when the Mayor was confronted with this picture of busses, he was speechless.

I heard it reported from at least two sources, that New Orleans had legitimate access to approximately 2000 buses... All of them in the Metropolitan Area.

NOT the estimated 400 to 600 buses we've been talking about..

If proved true -- this will be an 81mm coming in through the bunker's smoke hole for the Democrat bitchers...

2000 buses x 60 evacuees per bus = 120,000 EACH TRIP!

As soon as I can find hard copy confirmation, I'll post.

After days of whipping the sheeple into believeing it's all Bush's fault, they must have felt it was alright to show this. They may have figured that the bus issue won't be noticed and would only be incidental. If this is the case, the LSM is sadly mistaken. We here at FR have been batting this around the park for the last few days. But we've been preaching to the choir. It has now escaped to the general population to be layed bare for all to see. Problem is, WILL they see it for what it is? A gross misuse of resources. Nagin should be held on charges for multiple needles deaths

Actually some FReepers graphics do get posted at DU

If it is a funny enough parody graphic they will sometimes post it on a DU thread and it will stay up

Rare but it happens

I've been pinged to some DU posted of FR member graphics

Thanks- I concede that in my exhuberence to contribute to this thread, I ignored a gnawing thought process going on in the back of my head, which was trying to discount (that) such a large figure of buses likely did not all belong to the school district of N. O.

I am still in the hunt for the thread containing the chart on the entire fleet of school buses in La.

(my "enhancements" were not shown on FNC)
The wheels on Jabbar's bus go around,
Round and round, round and round.
People on the bus can get around
far out of town.

The city's other busses, blub blub blub,
Blub blub blub, blub blub blub.
Look at Nagin's busses: blub blub blub--
He let 'em drawn.

The Mayor said that he couldn't use the busses because they don't have seatbelts, would have been cramped for adults, and they don't have bathrooms.

Really there are no words.

He wanted air conditioned Greyhound busses and that's all there was to it.

And yet there will be those who defend him.

He ought to be in a jail cell next door to Blank-O

"buses controlled by the parish school board, not the mayor". Shows you this man has no guts to do anything.None of these people have any COMMON SENSE. You would think in an extreme emergency, you would do what ever it took to save the lives of people and worry about the consequence later . Just goes to show you that no one knew what the other was doing, especially this brainless mayor. .

Now I feel for the poor citizens of New Orleans that the Mayor of Los Angeles wants to bring (5,000) over to their school system and long term housing. This is another city that that is so corrupt, these people are better off in another part of California.

Peter Mulhern has a great line on the Lee Rodgers & Melanie Morgan Show on KSFO (SF) this morning.

He made the point that this same mayor and Democrat Party machine of New Orleans have had no trouble whatsoever efficiently rounding up all the old, feeble, disabled and indigent people of NO, putting them on buses and taking them to the polling stations every other November.

I guess it all depends on how motivated you are ...

Praising the Mayor and saying that no town would allow busses in with the people from NO. He stated that no town in NY would let the people in from Harlem either if there was an evacuation.

Is Geraldo on crack, is he an idiot or is he just a racist demagogue?

or

D. All of the above.

The 2004 Hurricane Pam Exercise that prepared and planned for a New Orleans hurricane scenario called for complete evacuation of New Orleans and:

The interagency shelter group identified the need for about 1,000 shelters for a catastrophic disaster. The shelter team identified 784 shelters and has developed plans for locating the remaining shelters.

To suggest that 21st Century America has some sort of internal passport system based on race analogous to apartheid South Africa is beyond the pale and FOX News needs to fire this buffoon.
