Patton was a kick ass fighting general but a very unbalanced man. NOT Presidential timbre nor even Cheif of Staff. Just too volatile. He was also weird. My father-in-law was liberated from a Nazi POW camp after three years (downed B-17 navigator) and met Patton personally three times. He wore white makeup. I kid you not.

This man Honore is much more like MacArthur I feel. A true leader and political genius. Hoover fired him because MacArthur was going to take his job.
