Patton was a kick ass fighting general but a very unbalanced man. NOT Presidential timbre nor even Cheif of Staff. Just too volatile. He was also weird. My father-in-law was liberated from a Nazi POW camp after three years (downed B-17 navigator) and met Patton personally three times. He wore white makeup. I kid you not.
This man Honore is much more like MacArthur I feel. A true leader and political genius. Hoover fired him because MacArthur was going to take his job.
Truman. Not Hoover.
God bless your fatherinlaw but Patton could have painted his face any color he wanted - weird is in the eye of the beholder :o) - he got the job done. Let's just call him colorful (no pun intended) He would have been crucified in this PC world.
