I see from New Orleans that when the social order breaks down, we are responsible for our own defense. I am planning on getting a firearm with the correct training that will be stashed away in a crawl space, never to be used unless a dire situation arises. The scum looters can come for me, that's fine, but I am going out in a blaze of glory.
I am seeking advice on what I should get. A handgun, a rifle? I'm sure there are big time gunners on freep and I could use some solid advice. Thanks.
exactly! Shotgun is the way to go... look into Remington 870 or Whnchester 1300.. both are great guns.. get it in 12 gauge also... look into getting an extended magazine tube for it also.. those are never bad to have on a gun (only people that find them bad are liberals).. i say buy 2 or 4 shotguns and teach everyone in the family to use it... go to a good gun shop to buy one and get the sales person to show you step by step how to use it.. some of the sales ppl at these big box stores dont know a dang thing about the gun your buying...
Oh yea, Piss off a liberal.. buy a gun.. or 2 .. or 3!
Put the body in the woodchipper.
If you buy or reload reliable, high quality ammunition, jams are almost non-existant with a well-made weapon.
Practice is the key to good marksmanship.
It's not how fast you draw or how quickly you fire. It's about hitting exactly where you want the bullet to hit.
Most revolvers and semi-autos have all the cartridge capacity most people would need in a gunfight if the rounds are not wasted by firing wildly.
Should you be attacked by multiple assailants and shoot two in quick succession, there is an excellent chance any remaining assailants will note your deadly accuracy and quickly retreat.
"I trust my life to a Colt 1911 .45 cal pistol. What are the two most intimidating sounds in the world? A pump shotgun being racked and the slide of a .45 pulled back and released."
Loaded with hollow points you can nearly cut a tree in half. No matter where you hit someone with one of these babies, they're down! ;D!
"Can't take a shotgun to that type of a fight."
Sure you can! With a 20 in. Barrel and ghost ring sights, as on my Mossberg 590, you can hit consistently at 75 to 100 yds. with practice.

LOL!
Like your tag line also.
Does it just take a hunting license or do you need looter tags too?
nope it is open season due to the current state of emergency in the area... no tags need, but the national guard and army does prefer that you check in before going out hunting.
bag limit or "whack 'em and stack 'em"?
Wackem and stackem.... but military will review methods if body count exceeds 50
Guns are like potato chips...you can't have just one. And they both make your fingers greasy.
For home defense, get a shotgun and pistol. And for good measure, then buy a rifle for when you need to reach out and touch someone. All semi-auto. High capacity mags (where legal).
And a good combat knife such as a Ka-bar for silent ops.
Recommend military/police calibers or popular calibers because ammo is much cheaper.
read and know your local laws on firearms and use of deadly force. Laws vary from state to state--in some cases, from municipality to municipality. The problem doesn't necessarily end when you've killed the bad guy. If you've screwed up by violating the law, your problems may have just started.
In my experience, .22 (i.e., rimfire) ammo misfires much more frequently than any centerfire caliber that I've shot.
