That is not what happens on the show. What happens is that Caesar suffers an epileptic seizure, and is rushed into a secluded room so that noone will see his affliction. Octavius helps Caesar's personal assistant slave carry him into the room. While in the room, Caesar makes certain noises as he bites down on a scroll that is mistaken by a nearby cook for sexual gratification. When the seizure passes, Caesar and Octavius exit the room, unaware that the cook sees them leave. This then starts a rumor that the two were...well you know.

The show has portrayed Octavius as uninterested in sex so far, and his mother is concerned that he is too effeminate, but I doubt that the writers will take it any further because the historical Octavian is thought to have been exclusively heterosexual. He was married twice, and was said to have had many, many extramarital affairs with women.

Caesar too, so far, has been portrayed as only interested in women. Hopefully the writers and producers will keep to what is known with regards to the sex life of the main characters, as with Caesar, Antony, and Octavian, that means sex with women.

Found this thread with a search...ive been watching religously. Great show. I have a BA in ancient roman history, and this show is by far, one of the most accurate portrails of roman debauchery and live.

What I found interesting is the true depictions of how the women were just as insidious as the men. As the men (at this time patricians) were off fighting wars, there were major families of females left to do business, keep farmsteads, trade slaves, and keep the power for their husbands/sons/brothers to return to....and the Julii, Scipii, and Brutii all veid for power at a facinating point in history.

If you want to read more into roman history, and do not have the time, just type in "ancient rome" in wikipedia.org to get a good touch and go lesson.

If you like accurate, historical fiction, I would suggest "first man in rome", by Colleen McCullough of the Thorn Birds fame.

This topic is from September of 2005. I didn't want to start another topic just to point out this new (or updated?) PC game, which looks cool on the website at least. :')

Yeah, if you like reading about Sulla fornicating with his mother-in-law in prose suitable for Penthouse Forum.

First Man in Rome is not a good book. It's porn for women.

Caesar IV demo available now

By Tom Orry - 17/08/2006 - 3:23pm GMT

City building game from Vivendi and the makers of Pharaoh can be tried before its October release.

Vivendi Games has released a demo for Caesar IV, the sequel to the hugely successful Caesar series. Developed by Tilted Mill (Caesar III and Pharaoh), Caesar IV brings city building into the current generation, with cutting edge visuals and increased control over the Roman Empire.

Starting as a governor of a province in the Roman Empire, your goal is to work up the political ladder, becoming more and more powerful within the Empire. The demo offers a fraction of the promised 100 + hours of gameplay, but it'll give you a taste of things to come.
