Hi, I'm a long time lurker, having posted a few times, but been a Freeper for close to two years. I have had lots of doubts with President Bush for some time, even before the 2004 elections, but I didn't like Kerry so I voted for Bush again. But this tragedy has hit too close to home. I lived in Idaho for several years before moving back to Alabama, and I live in Washington County, and I left before Katrina hit, and my home is powerless and won't have power or oil for a while. Although I continue to support President Bush, I seriously am thinking about leaving Republican Party for a while because the leadership with the Party has been really bad and I have some relatives in New Orleans that I have not heard since the hurricane hit, and it has shown me that there has been no food or water delivered for more than 3 days until President Bush showed up. Today was the last straw.I'm seriously thinking leaving the Republican Party and tearing up the card and going to Liberterian Party. It still fits within my ideals, but I'm telling you, fellow FReepers, this is it. I'm done. President Bush has totally lost my support. I'm even wondering if the Iraq war is all worth it too. Anyone have the same feelings?
Thanks folks - each of you had me guffawing out loud!
So a philosophy of a minimal government that eschews any public regulation and oversight beyond providing for mutual defense would have made the devastation less...how, again?
And this is the Republican's party fault because a democrat mayor is supposed to run the city, and a democrat govenor is supposed to run the state? Haley Barbour in neighboring Mississippi is doing a fine job running his diaster relief efforts. You've never been a republican, and definately not a conservative.
Nope, except for your friends at DU.
Thanks for making the point, Mike. We need to say it over and over until MSM makes even a minor comment about it.
So if you think you were wrong back then why should we believe yer any less of an idiot today per your own admission ?
There is no Washington County, Alabama on the coast--there's Baldwin east side of the bay and Mobile, west side. President Bush is a far better alternative than any democrat you would help elect by not voting Republican.
