School starts on Tusday in my neck of the woods - so for us summer is pretty much over.

Evryone, particularly Jax, is looking forward to school starting.

It has not been a terribly productive, or even fun summer, in this house :(

Was on vacation from Aug 19th - Aug 30th. Spent Aug 31st cleaning and resting. Kids started school yesterday, and today is Robbie's 6th birthday! Just got his presents wrapped, planning on taking him to Cold Stone Creamery after school so he can get his free ice cream (and maybe look at their ice cream cakes, we got a $5 off coupon for one)

How is your ankle Gabz? I was worried about you when you didn't post the thread for a few weeks. Glad to see you are ok.

We are staying home for the holiday to get some much needed rest and family time. The current gas prices made our decision easier. Probably cook some steaks and have some friends over. NFL starts next weekend! Thank God for Fall!

I need to take a break from TV news this weekend. Will run a few errands tomorrow morning, do some minor decorating in my living room, then curl up with a good book for the rest of the weekend. I'm not even planning on cooking. Will pick up enough BBQ tomorrow to last me for several days.

My abject apologies for not posting - and what is worst is except for the first Friday I missed, I knew in advance I was going to - and so should have posted on Thursday night.

My ankle is coming along as best as can be expecte.....I've started physical therapy (torture is a better word) and am really chomping at the bit to be cleared for driving again. Thanks for asking.

Today is open house at school and I volunteered to man an information table for the reading program for a couple hours this afternoon, and then meeting up with some FRiends for cocktails and dinner. The Moose Lodge is hosting a community BBQ/potluck on Monday, so will be there all day, most likely cooking :) - but other than that we have no plans for the weekend.

We're in our second week of school (maybe you heard the moaning ...).

This weekend the guys are running a 5K in Charlotte. Other than that, we'll stay home and clean! There's a lot to be moved and sorted before we can paint the schoolroom.

Jax has been ging absolutely crazy about going back to school. And after seeing a bunch of the teachers from school in WalMart last weekend - she has been nigh on impossible with the counting of the days........at one point she had even figured how many minutes it would be until the school bus arrives on Tuesday. But we're obviously doing something right - she came with in about 90 minutes :)

I'm chomping at the bit to finish the attic so I can get my "office" out of the dining room and up there - but I'm stil not real good with steps, and so there is no point in racing to getit done.

Ow.

The kids and I cleaned our garage, including scrubbing the floor, last month after our cat died. (Complications of extremely old age.) Now we're trying to get more of the house painted, which requires clearing out some things that haven't been moved in two years.
