[Soaring Feather]

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

No. No melody. But I don't want anyone to know I am not the boss at my own home. My children take advantage of me and so do the pets. It is a conspiracy.

Look. I am rough and tough and will blow the house down. That is what I keep telling them, but they never believe me. I do not know why.

Seedling

So small it was, just a tiny emerald tinted shoot,
its stem pushing up through earth with pride.
Struggling with its birth, unwilling to hide,
seemingly fearless of grazer, or a wayward boot.

Its leaves unfurled like a pair of leafy fists,
ready to take on life itself, a scrapper so small.
A bit of vibrant life, daring to rise to Nature’s call,
sun seeker, rain drinker, proving it exists.

Tapestry of Woman

As I sit here and watch
these women,
witty and wise,
loving and kind.
They shed their grace upon all,
expecting nothing in return.
They rejoice, love, sorrow and grieve together.

As we come together today,
to mourn the loss of the eldest,
I feel the strength
beneath the sadness,
holding the family together.

How proud I feel
to be a part of these women,
having come into my own,
so suddenly and without warning.
Never realizing my heritage.

Now as I sit among these women,
sharing our hopes, dreams and
bittersweet memories . . . .

I realize I am apart of
an unfinished tapestry,
and with the courage and strength
I have gained from them,
I begin to weave my own life strings
into this wonderful family.

I love all of you and thank you for your unconditional love.

Thank you Miss Feather . . . my MIL was a rare jewel, I miss her intelligence, generousness and her wonderful sense of humour . . . I was welcomed into this family as one of their own . . . and for this, I am eternally grateful.
