Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Wonder what time we should start? I'm thinking maybe six thirty our time, which would be an hour later your time.
Jen ran out to the library...I guess I shouldn't commit until she gets back...

Nayber lady came out this afternoon and said Mr. Nayber wants to help. I said he's welcome but didn't have to. She said "But it's a mutual project."
I said "Why, Are y'all startin' tuh get on yer own nerves?"

I didn't get any nano prep done this weekend and I meant to. I didn't exercise either. :( But I did do tons of laundry, tidying, and errands. I made tomato sauce, a big batch of taco meat, some sourdough (rising), and yogurt.

"But it's a mutual project." Danger, Will Robinson! Danger! Danger!
To: Lil'freeper
Oh and sausage! I made my first attempt at breakfast sausage. There's lots of room for improvement but it's not as bad as I thought.
To: Corin Stormhands
Looks like it'll look good. Why is it a mutual project? And why is the offer resented? You'll have to fill me in on the feud here.

Um...I accomplished...ummm...unloading the dishwasher?
I still don't even know what I'm going to write about, and I'm fretting about it. I'd really like to write another book for my sister, but about what? And my brain seems to be in slow-mo lately.

You could do a modern spin on a fairy tale.
To: Lil'freeper
You mean take a real story and adapt it?

Ya know, if'n yer gonna have breakfast with the Saddle Club, yer gonna miss a lot of mini-dramas. Here's the short version.
1) Naybers complained about trees. We had trees taken out.
2) Naybers complained about water run-off (see trees, above)
3) Naybers built a berm to deal with the run-off. I didn't want to have a ditch on my side of the property. So I started planting stuff that would ~also~ deal with the run-off. It wasn't good enough.
4) They were about to build a ~bigger~ berm when I said I'd do the dry stream bed. I'm willing to go that far and they actually look kind of cool.
But, this is only a mutual project in ~their~ minds. His message the other day thru Jr. that he wanted to help was code for "why haven't you done this already?"
Thing is, previous nayber lady (Hyacinth) spent thousands of dollars having the yard landscaped to deal with the run-off. They've let it all grow up.
They mean well. But a large portion of their "problems" with run-off and other issues, are imagined.
I had other things to do this fall.

Sure! Magic becomes science - all very sinister, of course. Take Snow White. Evil stepmom could be the ceo of a cosmetic's firm. Her PR department thinks Snowie would be the better "face" for the company. Stepmom hires a hitman and snowie goes into hiding in some exotic locale. The dwarves could be anyone from homeless teens to Mexican day laborers or heck, even real miners. She cooks and cleans all the live long day.
Now, the prince could be the VP of the company who swings into action to find and rescue her before the hitmen find her.
Etc....

Thanks for the recap of the nayber situation ;~D So many mini-dramas, so little time. Now I'm off to
sit on my cell phone .

Yes, but you can't blame the dog for the "ring tone."

Well it does drain into the Chesapeake Bay...
I don't doubt they have water problems. I do doubt that it's all coming from ~my~ yard.
