The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, all the answers to what goes in chili are correct, there are lots of correct recipes and the way one cooks it is the the proper way. However, I guess I just long for the way we used to get it in Northern AZ. Big bowl of green chiles, shredded mutton, beans, all simmered to perfection. With a side order of fry bread. Sigh.

EGE - 'don't want no adventure'. :-)

We're off. SYL

We're watching 2001. The pace of this movie is absolutely torture, and I'm in a pretty slow mood.

When you figure the end out, let me know.

Well the gate is primed. Breaking for lunch and then I'll cut some grass.

I'm a fan of a lot of somewhat arty films...but that one is just meaningless. And boring. IMO.

Not mowing the grass is one advantage of apartment living...

Need the exercise. I'd rather mow the yard than take kickboxing classes.

At least there's one film I don't have to watch! :-D

Just finished watching The Punisher.

I liked Hitchhiker's Guide better.

You can't beat free!

But all the time I was at kickboxing class, I'd be thinking "I could get my exercise and the grass cut at the same time."

No can do tonight anyway, Talon.

I'm actually going to go out later for drinks, dancing and some food with a bunch of friends.

Unbelievable, but true! *laughing*

I never could stand 2001. I liked 2010, though, if you ignore all the "I hope there's a world left for you to return to" references all during the movie. The funniest reference was to the 'reactionary' President in the White House. The character was saying the difference between this one and the former one was that when he had lunch with the last one, you didn't eat, you 'grazed'. LOL!
