The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Or cow tipping!

The prices just went up before Labor Day. I'm hoping they drop soon because I do love beef.

I want beeeef.... it's so expensive all of a sudden, though.

I've never exactly paid for it.

Mmm. Sounds good, but I couldnt' make it. SirKit doesn't like cream cheese in anything. He doesn't like creamy sauces at all, really.

"I didn't want a brother."

*snicker* I trust you didn't tell him that Jr. has probably uttered those same words. ;o)

Phone interview over...one more to go.

*sigh*

Wish I had more hope. I just don't anymore.

I *think* the phone one went well. And it does sound like what I'm good at. But they apparently are gonna do at least one and maybe two more rounds of interviews. And I'm starting to get questions about why I've been out of work so long. That's not good.

I called the staffing agency about last Friday's interview, and they said no decision had been made yet. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I've got all my fingers crossed on the Friday one, too. Maybe you'll hear back tomorrow morning!

Heh...guess I'd better turn my phone off before heading to the next deal in a minute here. Wouldn't look good to have my cell phone ring during an interview.

The phone interview company would be nice to work for, too, I think. I'd be doing what I did at the college, and the guy sounded nice. And they have ubertechs to do the infrastructure, so I'd get to do more working with people.

Well, Joshua has found his calling!

You know he is very active...bounds all over the house, does back flips and hand stands and crawls up the wall clear to ceiling in the hallway and hangs from the top of the door...

I kept thinking gymnastics might be something he'd like...but when I think children's gymnastics, I think silly dancing/tumbling stuff, you know? Well, someone on the BA CHEF egroup mentioned their son had taken gymnastics from this lady and how much they enjoyed it so I figured I'd check it out. I contacted the instructor and she said I could bring Joshua to one class for free to check it out, after that it's $20 a month.

Well, when I walked in, I nearly died. I mean, this was a GYM. We're talking a full-scale gymnastics training facility. Gymnasts were walking around...you know the type...shaped like this \/...very muscular. They were vaulting around on stuff and swinging on parallel bars and such.

Well, Joshua hit the mat running, so to speak! He really was in his element. He was doing back-flips and standing on his head and the bigger kids were climbing a rope and UP Josh went! He literally got 2/3rds up that rope his first try!

He was absolutely at home...I have never seen anything like it! Everything they showed him how to do he could do with ease!

That's terrific for Joshua! How many classes per month do you get for your $20. Would this be a class with other homeschooled kids? There is a gym in our area that does classes just for h/sed kids in the mornings.
