The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Freepin' from TheSunRoom!

Got the UNC/ State game on the 'puter....need some wireless speakers.

Turned the compost pile which is coming along nicely. I'm planning on clearing out the planter boxes this weekend and doing some major soil amendment. Going to pull up some dying plants, repot and divide house plants, and plant some more greens.

Maybe I should leave out some pots with loose soil in them. The squirrels have been burying bulbs in there. Perhaps I should see what kind of plant comes up...

Thanks, Overtaxed. I checked her posts and in one very recent one she indicated she had moved away from the coast and is safe. Good news!

OK, yeah, Jon Pertwee's the one I was thinking of. I really liked him as the Doctor.

I saw more episodes with him than with any others, though, so that might be part of it.

Man...that was really a long running show, wasn't it? A Doctor Who marathon could go on for DAYS.

I'll try anything once...maybe at a future moot.

Well...I was bad. One of the gals at the volunteer job has been telling me about various bakeries and restaurants in the area, so I went and got donuts at the "best donut shop anywhere around." They were good. Better than Dunkin' Donuts, I'd say.

And good coffee...though it comes in a scary lookin' cup. Dazbog coffee...which apparently was started by a Russian family that fled the Soviet Union. And the cup has Russian writing and such all over it.

But...but...2J liked it! I think she ate almost a whole pound at one sitting!

So far I've gotten only the Tom Baker stuff from Netflix....I did the Key of Time series. I'll have to see what they've got for the other doctors.

I might like it...I've never tried it.

I want Netflix. *sigh* Hope I get this job! Or *a* job, in any case.

Yeah.

They keep planting these bulbs with squashed bottoms in the pots where I tried to grow onions.

Are you sure you don't want an aloe plant?

This plant must have watched Killer Tomatoes. I think it's trying to take over the world. Hope it never meets the Toaster.

Oh dear...the consquences could be catasrophic!

Still, if I were closer, I'd take a cutting. I like aloe plants.

I really should get SOME plants one of these days. We just have one spider plant, which Tam is determined to kill.

I miss my philodendron. *snif* Had it for six years, through three moves and all that went with that. I left it with my family, which prolly means it's dead.

Such confidence, I have.

G'dafternoon.

Blech...everyone I know has plans and I'm tired of doing stuff alone.

Natch, I'm doing stuff alone: freeping, watching Secondhand Lions, and trying to decide not what to do, but whether to even try.

Izzit Monday yet?
