Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

What a umm...unprintable word that guy is! If I wasn't a coward, I'd ask "Do you drive on government roads? Would you expect the police or fire department to help you if anything went wrong?" Etc., etc.

Why on earth are the her-ems mad at the Anime club? I think mostly because we won't show anything that features, er, alternate relationships. But also because when a 'her-em' character does show up we tend to make horrible jokes and mock it to death. Which I think is a better reaction than getting all judgemental or whatever it is we hetero types are usually supposed to do but we nearly got a lecture on "tolerance" and "being offensive" from some little GLBLT staffer. Bah!

What do you think? I am thinking of having this printed up real nice and put in a frame with a "nature" type background and giving it to Steve for a graduation present. I think it would look nice in a new "Environmental Scientist" office somewhere!
This is My Father's World
This is my Father's world,
and to my listening ears
all nature sings, and round me rings
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world:
I rest me in the thought
of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
his hand the wonders wrought.
This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white,
declare their maker's praise.
This is my Father's world:
he shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear him pass;
he speaks to me everywhere.
This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget
that though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world:
why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King; let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let the earth be glad!

That would be lovely! You should look around the internet and see if anyone already has something like that for sale, I'd think you could find it against ocean or mountains or whatever.

You've got the idea! That's exactly what I have in mind!
Oh yes, if I could find it already made, that would be great! Especially if I could find one with a river or ocean, since water quality is his main interest.
I love the part that says "This is my Father's world. O let me ne'er forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet." I think it's encouraging...

It's a nice poem. I wouldn't be too surprised if it was available somewhere. Maybe do a search with the title and the word "plaque"?

They're the types that don't like women or children. And they seem to imply that children are parasites on society and anyone with children are no better than welfare queens or trogs. What a disgusting attitude. Absolutely digusting.
It's one thing to discuss a system that needs improvement in objective, dispassionate terms, but to turn it into a personal, acusatory attack.. Oh I'm just disgusted.

Yah. Also, I didn't mean to say that there's no value in planning... of course there are things for which plans should be developed and followed.
But there are those times when the only needful thing is pure undistilled leadership, of the raised voice stabbing finger variety. I guess the art is in knowing the difference. :-)

It's too early for popcorn! Nonsense. A damsel's honor needed defending.

This is the only one I can find...not exactly what I'm looking for.

I don't know how I'm going to do it...

You've got FReepmail.
I just received a 100 page stack of stuff that needs to be done before the end of the day, so I'll be back later.

I would think if you found an image you wanted to use and had that and the text of the photo, someone could fairly easily put them together nicely so you could take it somewhere and print it, and then just get a nice frame.

Nonsense. A damsel's honor needed defending. Well, thank goodness someone was awake and alert enough to do it.

Damsels in distress, how poetic.
Am I a damsel or am I still stuck at "maiden" level?
