The Hobbit Hole XXIV - Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
Please see our Hobbit Hole Troop Support project blog! ^

Posted on 08/24/2005 9:50:25 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm sure you know enough to do beginning guitar or mando lessons! You could take lessons for the more advanced stuff as you go.

Even in a location with more 'accomplished' musicians, it doesn't mean that those folks are available or even willing to teach.

Starbucks has brought back the pumpkin spice latte. It's like a glass of pumpkin pie.

Unfortunately, it has 25,000 calories.

Checking in...been very busy. This is a more intense year than I've ever had before with Joshua being in 1st grade. Plus on top of all that, the support group requires more time than I've ever put in to it before. Tonight is our first "normal" Mom's Meeting.

We had our "back to school" picnic Saturday and it was a blast, had a bunch of people. Enough for the youth to form a tag football team! I honestly thought we would only be a handful...a remnant...

And of course Steve comes home every evening at 5pm...so I have to get the milkman outta the house in time, you know.

I have no coffee...the tap water is brown again. Grrrr....

I could teach beginning guitar in some styles. Basic chords. But most folks get that far on their own.

To go any further, they start specializing in a particular style, as a general rule, and I don't play what would be the most popular.

I'm not just being lazy or falsely humble here...I just really don't feel up to the task, and the last thing I'd want to do is to turn anyone away from music on account of I'm a poor teacher.

Didn't you have bottled water for emergencies? Could ya use that and just replace it right away?

Soda doesn't have a rich, robust aroma.

I did, but I used it. I have "wash water" in 2L bottles which is probably potable, but likely stale.

I have been convicted lately to restore my emergency supplies...

I'll get some bottled water here in a bit.

I've got a recipe for a banana rum cream pie. I could go for a glass or two...

But nothing says "Wake up! It's a brand new day!" like the aroma of a good batch of coffee.

Eh... well, to each his own.

Very little says "Wake up, it's a brand new day" to me. Mostly the alarm clock.
