Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sand and Stone and Pool and Dell...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Yeah, the rural areas of MS certainly have to be more self-sustaining because, as your friends found, it can be difficult to get to some of the places.
My sister and her husband had water come through the house at the Fish Camp, but it didn't stay. The carpet is wet, and until last night, they had no power, but she had food in the freezer, and a gas grill, so she's been cooking for the other folks at the Fish Camp. Some folks were down for a week, and didn't realize the storm was gonna hit their area as bad as it did. So they've been gathering for meals at my sister's house. When she went through the line for ice and water the other day, the soldiers offered her MREs. She said she didn't need them because she had plenty of food.
The power crews have been amazing getting juice back flowing after such destruction!

The treadmills were almost full this morning (back to school you know), so I couldn't get to the one to be able to view Fox News. I had to switch between ABCCBSNBC. Within about 5 minutes I wanted to scream.
Admittedly the federal response was slow initially. I put that at the feed of the Mayor and Governor. But the President stepped in and took charge. I swear, the RATS and the MSM wouldn't be happy if he was down there with a mop and bucket.

If he went down with a mop and a bucket, they'd say he was showing off for PR purposes. He can't please them, period. I'm rather glad he doesn't try.

What a great story! It's so nice to hear some people are just digging in and helping one another the best they can, despite circumstances. God bless 'em!

I have an interview this afternoon at two. It's a job that pays well but sounds slightly less than enjoyable as I'd be split between several locations and would also be on-call most of the time...kinda restricted to the city during the week, basically. However...I'll know more this afternoon, and I'm trying to be totally open. And it sounds like a job I have a very good chance at, which I haven't been able to say for some time. I'd appreciate prayer!

I'm feeling a bit guilty that I'm not sure if I hope I get it or not. I'm really hoping the college will call back today...but even getting a second interview is no guarantee that I have a chance at the job. And if I'm actually *offered* this one...I'd take it, of course.
Like I said, I'm just tryin' to be open to whatever happens. And the fact that I'm not desperate for this job may serve me well in the interview - I'm not *as* stressed out as I've been for some.

Heh...if it's anything like the last Nate I knew (he was an intern in the IT dept at the college), you don't want him anywhere NEAR. Trust me on this.
